Another Northwestern reject here :frowning: Please take me, UMich :slight_smile:

@uofmPlease It’s hard enough for me to find someone who could actually drive me, but to go to Ann Arbor I’d probably just have to fly. I just can’t afford airfare, hotel, and any other expenses to tour a school I might not even get into… ugh. It’s so weird having a city just shutoff that I’ve had in mind for so long (Chicago). Deferred and then rejected by both NU and UChicago. I do like the vibes I’ve gotten from Ann Arbor, and Detroit seems really cool despite whatever economic troubles they have going on.

@bamboo17 Thank you, and to you too! Yeah, like I said above, having had Chicago in my mind for so long… definitely hurts having that door closed. But Ann Arbor is fantastic too, and I like the architecture of the campus the most of any of the schools I applied to. It seems to be quite modern which I love. The only colleges I have left to hear from are UMich, Columbia, and UW-Madison, and I fear that I’ll only get into UW-Madison. I don’t want to have to take out $10k+ a year for a school I really don’t want to go to, and that’s probably the most I’d have to pay of all of the schools I’ve applied to, so I don’t know what I’ll do if I get rejected by UMich too. :expressionless:

@billcsho Seems like that’s the trend nowadays… too bad I couldn’t have been born a few years earlier. Lol.

@TanTheeeta </3. Good luck to both of us then! :slight_smile:

What do you all think about sending a letter of continued interest this late in the game? I applied in early November so I think I have the grounds to send a letter.

@uofmPlease i mean its worth a try and it will do no harm

I am also rejected by Northwestern and waiting for the news from UMich! I do not think calling them really helps, though.It seems that this year they release the decisions even later than they did last year, which is frustrating and annoying…
I know people who take UMich as a safe school admitted by UMich, and yet we have not received any messages…

Oh god this is just nerve wrecking, figuratively pacing back and forth waiting for a decision from essentially my top choice, agh! Please accept me umich!

I have been wait listed at UIUC and Purdue and rejected at Georgia Tech and UCLA. So I pretty much have nowhere to go yet. Hoping for UMich, but CoE is supposed to be extremely tough from what I have heard.

@michaelite Umich is supposed to be on par with GT in COE, and UIUC and Purdue are supposed to be easier to get in. But you never know, they have different admission criterias. I think purdue accepts many people from the waitlist

OK. So what are we expecting the waitlist acceptance rate to be?

@uofmPlease at UMich ?

@meriks‌ Yeah.

at Purdue it’s like 10-15% acceptance on waitlist

I’m looking for Umich, but it’s hard to find, plus they said they would use the WL much more this year so that they don’t over enroll.

I found this for UMich, but it’s 2012. So I think this year is going to be better :smile:

That’s what I heard as well meriks, that’s why I was curious what the projected wl acceptance would be

Also got rejected from GA Tech and UCLA so hoping umich is a little kinder and gives me my big break

I applied to umich in November and still haven’t heard anything. I was just rejected by UCLA so I’m also hoping that I have better luck at umich.

I found this article to be interesting tho- it sounds like we might have a bit longer to wait tho before we find out a decision :frowning:

UCLA was tough this year, I got in at UMich and Georgia Tech but not UCLA. So don’t worry if you got rejected at UCLA, Umich is still very much possible. (talking about engineering)

For UCLA you have to remember that they got nearly 100,000 applicants so honestly, getting accepted would be pretty hard (I got rejected :disappointed:).

UCLA got almost twice as many applications but we don’t seem to be hearing about any issues with releasing decisions.
