University of Michigan Ross Pre-Admits Fall 2018

“i’m thinking it’s mainly because i’m OOS. without ross, i probably won’t go to michigan”

The above is the main reason why I am glad Ross has gone mostly the pre-admit route. Michigan is very expensive OOS and really it’s not fair that out of state students have to wait a year to find out if he/she qualifies to be admitted while many other schools don’t. Paying for college is a business decision. It’s good to know that making the investment will payoff beforehand.

“I don’t think people who don’t go Ross are lower ,but he already got accepted to UVA which is a great business school. He has half ride to Northeastern. Got into Emory business. On waitlist at Northwest. And still waiting for NYU, Georgetown & Carnegie Mellon. So Ross LSA is not a option”

Just to make it clearer to other readers in this thread.
This is taken directly from UVA’s website:

“Direct entry or preferred admission to McIntire for incoming first-year students is not available.”

What’s the lowest ranked private university y’all would choose to attend over Ross? Like the top Ivies, Stanford and Duke are obvious. But what about arts & sciences colleges in the teens e.g. Cornell, Georgetown, Northwestern, Notre Dame?

@soccerfwd9 Duke is the lowest rank university i’d take over ross as a prospective business major.

“Rank,” however you define it, is not what you should look at.

Are you interested in working in investment banking? Consulting? If so, you need to find out the TARGET SCHOOLS for every big bank or big consulting company. They all recruit at a defined list of competitive colleges. Those are their target schools. Goldman Sachs does not give two hoots what you majored in if you go to one of their target schools. If you major in art history at Harvard, you can be recruited. If you major in business at Ross, you cannot. Michigan is not even on this list.

Considering costs are equal, I’d personally pick Northwestern A&S over Ross as someone who has interest in pursuing business after graduation.

A business degree can mean many different things to different folks. I think most do not understand that it is, by itself, a very general/broad degree without further concentration in other areas. Wall Street Firms all have their own personality much like colleges do. There is absolute strength in Michigan’s alumni network and that network can be accessed by all students no matter what your major is.

What’s the word on the timing of the next wave?

My son enrolled last night into Ross. Very proud and look forward to the next four years at Michigan. GO BLUE!!

@FoxRulz Exactly! A business degree isn’t the only way to get into the business world, LSA, COE, STAMPS all can take you where you want to go. It’s not the degree, its what you make it. Additionally, UMSI has a great step into the business world with its tech and business degree programs.

Hoping for more notifications tomorrow!

I put down my deposit a few days ago and now my LSA application says “You have accepted admission to the university”. Wondering if this is the same for anyone else who put down their deposit? Probably means I can’t use the portal hints as an indicator of my decision?

That’s the same for me. I believe your Ross decision tab will appear above that, so it should still be a valid indicator.

Anyone’s decision tabs dissapear? Expecting decisions today? Not even gonna bother checking my portal

I got no glitch… but i wouldn’t be surprised if there is not a wave today

GC said they heard from UMich/Ross Admissions this week and they said acceptances will continue until mid-April…not expecting any today, but will see, nothing strange with portal.

Anything anyone?

Absolutely nothing for me part 3 million.

Nothing here either…

which other colleges are fellow OOS pre-admits mulling over v Ross?
