need some advice: is it better to apply for summer 2020 or fall 2020? I tried googling about fall and summer transfer admits but I could not find much infoā>any advice would be appreciated! all the best everyone!
I was wondering the exact same thing too!! I was thinking of reapplying for spring. Overall getting rejected hurts so much the second time around:( I had big plans for umich and it just sucks. Good luck to everyone!!
I havenāt heard back, but hereās my stats if you are interested:
Applying to CoE Engineering Physics
GPA: 3.9+ (~70 units including a few upper divisions)
Extracurricular: Lab Internships mostly, some sports, some jobs
-gpa: 3.43
-currently go to a tiny, private, liberal arts college 15 miles north of nyc
-mostly upward trend in grades
-two letters of recommendation, one from a professor who went to nyu and one from my boss
-57 completed credits with 15 underway
@PerryHorn that is awesome! It seems like you are in a pretty good placeā¦ I hope it works out for you!!
i applied to LSA
I am sitting a 3.68 at msu (2nd year)
40 credits completed from ap, my first year and my 2 summer courses, will have 52 at time of transfer.
i work/volunteer at the CDL here at msu, part of some clubs and i volunteer at the hospital
so my stats are not too great, not really too sure what to expect, this will be my 3rd time applying!
@walverine2022 oh no who is your admissions counselor?? also how many credits did you have? i got denied the first time because i did not have enough credits.
For anyone who has a high GPA and got rejected, is there anyway that it is due to we did not complete requirements for divisions other than our majors? I had only 1 course in humanity and 0 in social science (although Iām currently taking one of each)ā¦
Why are majority of us getting rejected? This all canāt be real btw Iām not trying to take away from anyone that got accepted Iām genuinely very confused?!
yea transfer credit and classes taken matter just as much as GPA in transferring. LSA likes to see a wide mix of classes and like 55 credits, while CoE likes to see the pre-reqs. The GPA just helps with competition as long as your above the minimum, which is based on the program. Some programs can be easily transferred into, while others are extremely hard because of competition. As an example, Iām going into meteorology and when I asked my advisor about letters of req, he told me not to get one, cause that programās not competitive. While for other programs, you pretty much need to get a letter of req. So my guess for people with high GPAās getting rejected is the programs there trying to get into are competitive and only have a few slots. But thatās just a guess.
