University of Michigan Transfer- Winter 2020

.

what time did decisions come out today?

seems to be after the office closed for the day, 6+ PM EST

@walverine2022 what do you think is the reason that you got rejected? If you donā€™t mind me asking, because I have a 3.95 in a very good school and got rejected too

Mine came out at 3:23 pm this afternoon

for the people that were accepted, especially those who are oos applicants, was the financial aid package also presented?

Iā€™m studying in MSU. I donā€™t know why I was rejected, may be the reason was essays. it just didnā€™t make sense for me.

Havent heard back yet. Here are my stats though in case people are interested for comparison.

3.8 college GPA
3.6 HS GPA
3 letters of recommendation
Psychology Major-LSA
currently attending a small community college out of state
Ill have completed my associates by the time I start if accepted, so 62 credits, I fear that I might be rejected due to the amount of nontransferable credit thoughā€¦
College: Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta honor societies, Psychology Club, campus service initiatives, first gen
High School: Marching band, Honors, AP, Symphony, other misc. leadership positions

@walverine2022 I only have 28 credits and 1 course in outer divisions (not counting APs or this semester), I think that might be my problem. I donā€™t know if you also was applying with less than 30 credits. Are you going to ever apply again?

do they release decisions on a basis of who submits applications first?

I do wanna try again, cause I really love Umich. so sad that They rejected me this time.

Me too, especially I was pretty sure I would get inā€¦ I guess I will see you in the Fall transfer thread. Hope we both have better luck next time!

For the people who got rejected, have you guys complete courses that are equivalent to the first 2-years of coursework for your intended major at UMich? I would theorize that maybe they want to see more courses completed in order to accept applicant?

P.S. the acceptance rate for Transfer is pretty high I think the main reason that people get rejected is possibly due to lack of coursework preparation

Hope to see you in the next year

In Umich

Iā€™m not sure. But it might be that having enough credits and taking more rigorous courses are more important than your GPA. Iā€™ll be willing to test it out by applying for Fall 2020 and Winter 2021.

That would definitely be better haha

So sorry to those rejected. Maybe a call and schedule a talk with your admission counselor? They might be able to point to where improvement can be made. Especially for engineering you need to have the proper prequsite classes with the classes that transfer and meet Michiganā€™s guidelines. They are extremely picky on what they will accept, especially in math and science. Also, it seems easier to transfer being a junior since they then donā€™t look at your high school GPA or stats.

Review the prequsites and talk to a counselor. I donā€™t think serial applying is a positive move if your not meeting what they need. Also, yes, the essay is extremely important.

Good Luck. ?

when I attended a Transfer Tuesday over the summer, I sat down with an admissions counselor from the COE who reviews transfer apps, he got straight to the point and said that if: i) you meet the pre-reqs for your intended major ii) are on track to graduate with the class you are joining (meaning you have sufficient progress towards general education courses and what not) and iii) your hs and college record/involvement is ā€œindicative of successā€ alongside the current students in your class, that you have a great chance of being admittedā€¦in short, be able to jump in on the same courses your counterparts are taking next semester and beyond
