I’ve met a lot of sophomore transfers who were in-state, but these were students who were mostly in the same boat as RandomMe. They got accepted, didn’t attend for personal reasons, but when they applied again, they got in very quickly and easily.

The rule of thumb is…

You can transfer as a sophomore if your high school standing was strong as well as your college GPA. Umich still takes into account your ACT/SAT scores a lot more than they would if you transferred as a junior.

If your HS GPA and ACT/SAT scores were not so great, you should transfer as a junior. What you’ve done during college will count more than what you did during high school at this point I believe. Your college GPA will be weighed more heavily than your high school grades and test scores.

I have posted earlier, but will say again that my S had a 33 ACT & ended his high school career with just under a 3.9 weighted GPA (all honors & AP classes). Due to his lack of “school” EC’s (he did highlight his actual activity - his band & recording - but UM didn’t seem to consider that an acceptable use of his time), he was waitlisted in HS. He had good college grades first term. He did not get accepted to LSA. I am pretty sure he will be accepted for junior year, based on everything I have seen on this thread.

I was accepted to the CoE for mech. engineering a few days ago. Im surprised I got in, since I turned in my application a month after the original deadline.

waiting on financial aid now, but I doubt I’ll get enough to be able to attend

I had a terrible hs gpa(2.6) and disciplinary record, and no test scores, but I still got in. just need to show them youve changed during your college years.

I have a question. Since Michigan’s decisions are on a rolling basis, if I send everything in by June 1st (for winter 2012), should I expect to receive a decision sometime in the summer? Or would I have to wait till November? (since that’s when the deadline is)
