University of michigan transfer

Hey everyone! I’m new to this website, and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what my chances are of getting into the LSA at UofM for the Fall of 2012?

I’m currently attending Schoolcraft Community College in Livonia. I will be a sophomore this coming fall with around 30 transferable credits under my belt and will be aiming for another 30 more. Currently I have a cumulative gpa of 3.65,I’m a member of the schools honors program, student ambassador program, as well as a member of PTK. I just wanna know if I’m on the right track.

I believe that you have a fairly good chance since you will be transferring as a junior. However, you really should get that gpa up to a 3.7 since that’s what the average transfer gpa is. good luck!

i got in with a 3.6, so its not like your chances are hurting that much…just maintain that GPA and you should be fine. FYI i got into the school of engineering with 64 credits complete.

Awesome thanks for the feedback guys :)

repaidfuzz! I need your help! I want to ask why university of michigan wants your AP score? Do we need to hand in AP score? If i transfered tow of my AP scores in my community college, and it appears on my transcript, do i need to send u michigan the scores of my AP? What if my AP scores are 3 points but my community college accepted it, i know that is low… Will that influence my transfer? Or do you suggest me to take the classes again?

They needed my scores to make sure all the credits would transfer over. I had a problem with Calc 2 because although i got a 4 on the AP test it is not accepted at Mich so i wouldnt be allowed to transfer. Just send them and contact the transfer office.

Hi everyone, can someone please tell me if i have a chance of transferring to umich ann arbor for the winter 2012 semester?

Attending: University of Michigan-Dearborn
Credits:30
gpa: 3.44
major: English (may change)

High School gpa: 3.59
ACT: 28

I’m in the honors program at umd, im not sure if that helps or not. I just finished my freshmen year and I’m trying to transfer in my second semester sophomore year. Do I have a good/bad chance? do you guys have any advice for me?

Got accepted as a transfer a few weeks ago, good luck to everyone applying!

@quepasta123 what were your stats?

33 credits completed
4.0 gpa
honors college
29 act
high school gpa 3.5

Applying to LSA for Fall 2012

Current School: Michigan State University
Stats:
3.89 GPA
28 credits
3.33 high school
27 ACT
ECs: Research at St. Mary’s Field Neurological Institute

Any idea what my chances might be? I know they’re slim but it’s gotta be possible.

Applying LSA spring of 2012

Junior or senior status (105 credits after this semester)
HS GPA: 2.8
OCC-four semesters GPA: 3.5
UM-Flint- five semesters GPA : 3.97
Decent course load (between 15-18 creds) but a lot of soft science classes plus two years Mandarin Chinese
ACT: 24
EC’s: Golden Key Honour’s Society and creator Unofficial Mandarin Chinese Club (1hr/week, 10 weeks/yr)
Legacy: Brother and Mother both graduated from UM-Ann Arbor

This semester I’m taking earth sciences and next semester taking calculus, physics, chemistry.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to have too many credits? I know I’ve heard they prefer Junior level transfer. Does that mean at least junior level? I think i did see someone with 100 credits that got accepted. I know I can only transfer up to 60, but I’ve recently changed my major from a BFA to a BS in Earth and Resource Science. So it’s not like I’m close to graduating anyways.

Secondly, how important are extra curricular’s in college. I would have to think they’re not as important as in high school but I guess I don’t know.

Last, I saw something about they look down on spring and summer transfer applicants and something about “backdooring” this can’t be right can it?

Ok guys, help me out here?

OOS
Looking to transfer into LSA for the fall of 2012
Psychology major (though I’ve heard of people applying under different, less competitive majors and then switching once they’re accepted? Seems like that’d be frowned upon…)

What do you think my chances are here?

Oh, I forgot though, I’m transferring in as a sophomore, which I know could be problematic  But I might be pulling a 4.0 and not a 3.85 if it makes a difference

Hello all,

I’m applying for Summer 2012 to LSA
HS GPA: abysmal
SAT: 1880 (1260)
College GPA: 3.71
46 credits completed, 16 pending

I know LSA takes into account how demanding your schedule is (at least thats what someone at the admissions office told me). I’ve taken calc I+II, bio, chem, physics (honors if that matters), and organic chemistry (along with econ and stats)

I am a Michigan resident, but not according to “their rules” since I go to school at the University of Miami. Also…I did get one C+ in a 1 credit lab class, does anyone know how bad that would hurt my chances? I’ve gotten a few B’s, 2 A-'s, but majority A’s.

What do you think my chances are?

I submitted my common app few days ago, but still don’t have UMID to check application Status. I thought i get this ID automatically. Am i wrong? when do i get this ?

Sorry to do this folks, but since this thread was started for fall 2011, and we’re now into the 2012 cycle, I’m going to close this thread. I will start an Official 2012 UMichigan transfer thread and give a link to this last page, which is the only one for this coming fall.
