I saw his tweets. It seems that students who didn’t receive an offer till now will be rejected in June. @96blue

Hey guys, did you receive your result?
@fash97 i called admissions office today, they said they will release results in 1-2 weeks
So my admissions officer was right all along then: middle of June.
As an FYI, the U sent emails out in the last week or so to admitted students reminding them to sign up for an orientation session and asking those who had not yet signed up to let them know if the student will not be attending. Point being that they are trying to get a final read on matriculation, and if there will be more open spots. I can only surmise from this that in past years students have sent in their deposits, then changed their minds, perhaps because they got off another school’s waitlist, or maybe the fin aid didn’t work out, or just a change in circumstances. The U is also dealing with gap year requests right now, which could also impact space available (although, admittedly, this is a small number).
Last year, there were around a couple hundreds who had paid the deposit but did not attend at the end.
My assumption is that everyone on the wait list will get an e-mail - whether they are offered admission or not.
Is that correct?
I can’t wait for this to be over!!
@adkdad Me too. This is torture for students waiting for it.
@adkdad Everyone will get an email. You just don’t want to get one at the end of June because it’s most likely a rejection. It seems like most of the acceptances off the wait list would have gone out by now based on the people who didn’t make their deposit by May 1. But everything about this year has been different so I try to remain hopeful.
@BSM1987 after talking to the admissions office, no acceptances have gone out. They will be released in 1-2 weeks
@niboss96 There are some students already got admitted by LSA, according to their twitter and cc.
@BSM1987 I chatted with the Admission Office online and they said they still admit someone in June, and this year admit small number of students from waitlist as usual.
Another Twitter acceptance tonight. They are going to the waitlist.
I know of 3 in-state students admitted a couple weeks ago off of the wait list. It’s been happening.
I am losing my hope…
Does anyone have an idea how many students were waitlisted?
@aspect121 The number for this year will not be out until much later. In the past, they offered waitlist to around 15000 applicants and around 2/3 of them declined to be on the waitlist. It is hard to say how many they would accept from the waitlist without seeing the admission numbers which was usually released before the end of May. But if they did admitted 13,000 as they said in October, then, they would have to admit a few hundreds from the waitlist.
Sigh. It sounds like there’s little chance at this point if people have been admitted during May. I really regret not encouraging my S more strongly to take the ACT one more time. While his score last year would have been fine, this year another point or two would have made a difference. Oh well, good luck to everyone in the fall wherever you end up!
It seems they pretty much meet their enrollment target this year already. There may be a small number of students admitted from the waitlist particularly for certain programs. It is not likely to have a big batch of waitlist admission as originally expected this year. I know an in state student with ACT 33 got rejected this year. I hope that may make you feel better.
Nevermind, I read that article and thread posted yesterday again and the admission data may be from last year. So there is still hope for this year’s waitlist. Again, there is no official admission numbers from this year yet.
