@momofthreeboys they haven’t posted the academic/geographic stats of the kids accepted yet on their website though.
@momofthreeboys can you direct me to these preliminary admission statistics for the class of 2022?
There is a thread just down the list Alexandre posted “Preliminary Admissions Numbers Are Out etc”
Most years the hard data point numbers on the incoming class are released around the start of fall semester. As mentioned several times, UofM allows many many kids to add their names to the waitlist but that does not mean that hundreds and hundreds are offered seats. A few years ago it was zero. Chances of a “wave” of offers as one poster mentioned is probably not happening at this point.
So I don’t know what most people think, but which school is better for a degree in electrical engineering: UMich or UIUC? As of now, I am accepted to UIUC and on the waitlist for UMich.
@NSaltzman both are great schools for engineering. My son was accepted directly into engineering at UIUC but just liked Michigan better for Industrial engineering. Both are elite schools for engineering. Congrats.
Does anyone else who is still on the waitlist have the option to accept/decline financial aid?
Is there anyone on the waitlist still not hearing anything through email at this point?
Michigan, many thought, would receive applications north of 70,000. That didn’t happen. I think, it is high time Michigan considers financial support to the deserving out-of-state applicants. It will increase the applicant pool further and most likely, draw top-class applicants.
I still am on the waitlist and haven’t heard back yet.
FYI- they do provide financial support for deserving OOS students. Not sure what you are talking about. My daughter got a substantial grant on top of a scholarship to go to UM.
I’m on waitlist and haven’t got an email or seen my status update
I don’t recall anyone predicting “north of 70,000.” I think most beleived somewhere between 65,000-70,000 applications. I had heard “almost 70,000.” As it was, they received 65,684 applications, which was almost an 11% increase, a similar to the increase in UCLA apps for comparison sake.
And I can assure you, they already do “draw top-class OOS applicants.”
Yeah not really sure myself about the comments. As an Oos Parent, Sure would love more money and with like $11 billion in reserves everyone should get some sort of discount… Lol… I agree also that Michigan gets top tier kids applying. With an average 3.8 grade point that’s not to shabby compared to a lot of known state schools.
For the ones still waiting on the wait list. I hope I am wrong but it might be time to get excited about what is your next journey in life. Good things are ahead for all of you.
I am OOS and on the wait list and have not heard anything. I am very excited about RPI but would have liked to go to Mich
When are decisions coming out?
@NSaltzman I doubt there will be many more. They still haven’t posted their statistics for the incoming class on their website but there’s only a couple days left in June. Praying so hard for an acceptance but the chances now are so slim. Start to think about transferring in if you really want to go to umich.
UM has posted it’s entering Class of 2018 admission statistics:
https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/student-profile
They literally posted that yesterday or today then so I guess we are kindve out of luck now
