With a 3.4-3.5 unweighted GPA, but 4.0+ weighted GPA...
what would my chances be to get into Umich?

Stats:
-ACT: 32+
-Outstanding Essays
-Spanish Honor Society, Model UN, Math Honor Society, IASA, Dance Teams, Tons of Volunteering (100+ hours), Basketball School Team (JV for 9th and 10th and Varsity for the rest), Religious classes, + some more.
I've attained leadership positions in many of these, too.
-Solid reccs.

Please and thank you:)

Also, if someone could elaborate on how UMich looks at an applicant, it'd be greatly appreciated.

That GPA hurts you, though your ACT score does put you in the top 25% of students at UMich. However, if your GPA might be deflated (ex. you have a low GPA but high rank). I’d call it a low reach. 100+ hours isn’t “tons of volunteering” by the way. Many students in my area participate in a program called Green Chord and earn 100+ hours every school year.

If this gives you any idea:

Average High School GPA of Freshmen: 3.8
Percent of entering freshmen by GPA:
GPA … % of Freshmen
3.75-4.0 … 63%
3.5-3.74 … 26%
3.25-3.49 … 6%
3.0-3.24 … 4%
2.5-2.99 … 2%
2.0-2.49 … 0%
1.0-1.99 … 0%
0.0-0.99 … 0%

I am also applying to Michigan with a similar situation – except mine is a more extreme gap between my GPA and standardized test score. I started this message thinking I would write a short little description or tersely list off my statistics… Only after writing everything below do I realize that I just spent the amount of time it would have taken me to finish my Michigan supplements. But here it goes.

We don’t have a class rank.
