University of Michigan

I’m a senior in high school right now and getting ready to apply. University of Michigan isn’t on my list right now because I think it’s a pretty far reach, but I would REALLY like to go there. So, yeah, what are my chances of getting in? Oh yeah, and I’m in California, so I’m out of state (if that makes any difference).
GPA and EC’s are pretty weak.

GPA: 3.4
10-12 GPA: 3.5
Freshman year I had a 3.36. Sophomore year I had a 3.5. Junior year I had a 3.75. I was told by my counselor that colleges look for a trend.

Classes:
English and History Taken every year.
Freshman - Geometry, PE, Art/Architecture, Science, Spanish (3-4)
Sophomore - Advanced Algebra, PE, Chemistry, Science, Spanish(5-6)
Junior - Precalculus, AP statistics, AP Environmental Science, Engineering
Senior - AP AB Calculus, AP Economics, Honors Physics, Engineering, Taking astronomy class at local community college

Testing:
ACT - 31
SAT Math II - 780
AP Environmental Science Exam - 4
AP Statistics Exam - 4

Extracurriculars:
Freshman year - Did rowing “camp” every weekend for 2 hours, Volunteered at food bank for 10 hours TOTAL (school requirement)
Sophomore year - Junior Varsity Track and Field in spring, Summer job at restaurant 8 hours a weak
Junior year - Volunteered for 2 hours a week in fall, Varsity Track and Field in spring, Joined investment club for 2 hours a week in spring, over summer took an online course on MATLAB (engineering programming language) 5 hours a week, and volunteered for 5 hours a week.

I have no idea what my class rank is. We are the 41st public school in the U.S. so it probably isn’t good.

Also, what are my chances for University of Washington?

For UMich, your GPA is very low even for in state students, particularly if you are interested in engineering.

Well …I would bring up the ACT. That would give you a better chance but transferring may be your best option.

ACT 31 is below admission average for UMich and near 25th percentile for CoE, but UMich consider GPA to be more important. College do like upward trend, however, UMich and most top schools like near 4.0 GPA even more.

I know my chances are low for admission to Michigan, but I still will roll the dice and apply. I would love to go to Michigan. My mom is a Michigan grad, does that help in terms of admissions?

From anyone’s experience, based on my information, what do you think my chances are of getting into University Of Michgan’s Ross school of business.
