University of Minnesota Twin Cities Dorms?

Hello everyone  I have been admitted to UMN Twin Cities, and I am trying to decide which dorm I want to live in. I am planning to join a sorority, but I want to live in the Minneapolis dorms my freshman year. I love being social and meeting new people (and would like to become friends with as many freshmen as possible), but I would like to be in a dorm where I can get some sleep. I also want to be as close to campus as possible. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I’m currently in a fraternity at the U and I would recommend 17th avenue then any of the dorms in superblock. Territorial is definitely the party dorm so keep that in consideration.

Ask the people in reddit/r/uofmn

Are you OOS? My S is in the OOS LLC (At Home) in Centennial which is all singles. It’s social but quieter than Territorial and in a single you can get to sleep when you want to!

We visited campus over spring break 2016 and the campus tour included a tour of Pioneer Hall. I hate to say this, but it was hands down the worst dorm we have seen anywhere. Dreary and drab are the best descriptions I can think of. I hope the other dorms are better.

There are videos of the different dorm halls on the UMN housing site. Pioneer would not be a good option - no elevators and no air conditioning. I think we were shown a dorm in Territorial during our tour and I found it comparable to dorm rooms at other universities we visited. The main negative is the food in the dining hall - limited choices, not too healthy. The dining hall in 17th is decent and S hasn’t tried Middlebrook which is also supposed to be better.
