University of Minnesota vs. U of I (Biomedical Engineering)

Which one should I choose?

U of I-
Smaller program
Better for other engineering focuses (if I wanted to change)
More prestigious
$32,000

University of Minnesota-
In the city
Tied with U of I for BME
Gave me 1500 dollar scholarship for research
$18,000

UM is also better for Chem E which is a pretty big area to be better in. I think biotech at Uminn>>>UI overall. There is lots more bio research going on at UM.

Thats what I leaning towards, does U of M has as many companies come to recruit engineering as u of i?

The eng placement office can answer that. Each major attracts different firms as most hire one or two types of engineers, They should have some placement info online.

Minnesota has the advantage of being in a big city with many global companies. You can do internship during the school year.

3M, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, as well as many others are all headquartered or have a heavy presense in the Twin Cities and all recruit heavily at the U of M. I’d choose there - I don’t see any big differences in the quality of engineering education at the schools and I’d say you would have just as many job opportunities at the U of M.
