University of Notre Dame Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@collegebound62 you have to or you won’t fulfill their requirements.

I did, and I would imagine most people did because of their requirements. But I know a lot of people especially A&L transfers who don’t take a math requirement during their freshman year and have to take it over the summer if admitted.

Thanks @JSully221 and @drm2211. How many credits did you take freshman year? I am currently looking at 15 first semester but that includes a couple of required seminars. Not sure how I should figure AP credit into this scenario. Did you all take 15 or 18 credits per semester? Thanks so much!

@collegebound62 I took 16 but then we had a 1 credit mandatory class we had to take 1st semester so it was 17, but then 16 second semester. And I fulfilled all their requirements. And a lot of colleges only take AP credit if you get a certain score, ( for example ND only takes 5’s).

^ I don’t know if it is different for transfers, but ND does accept a 4 on certain AP exams, at least for first years. I don’t know why it would be different for transfers.

Hhhmm idk, my brother is there now and I was aware they only took 5’s. Certain tests I could see them taking 4’s possibly.i know I don’t know it all though so it’s very possible.

They accept 4’s for Bio, Chem, English (either exam), Latin (3 or 4), Physics (Mechanics), and Physics (Elec & Magnetism). Not a lot, but they do. Also, as of last year they will no longer give any credit for APUSH.

@drm2211 Are you transferring in as a sophomore? Just trying to clarify…some classes like foreign language and science can be 4 credits with labs, and then there are various required seminars. Did you take 5 academic classes, or were your 16 credits made up of four academic classes plus misc. lab/seminar credit add-ons? Thanks! Also, to you and anyone else who is transferring…I’d love to know what your freshman course load looked like. Thanks

hey guys is ND still working on admission decisions because i still have not received my decision yet?

@newbee18 if you’re worried about your application being incomplete you should call them, but I think an earlier comment called and had the timeline

@collegebound62 I’m not going to lie to you, I was not admitted. But I know everything you need to do to be successful. I had 2 art classes, a math, a science without a lab, and a 4 credit English course 1st semester and second semester I had another math, a science with a lab, anthropology, history, and another art . ( art major) I fulfilled all their requirements for arts and letter hopeful. They really like it when the first year course work is perfectly mirrored. And had I been admitted I would have been an incoming sophomore.

Hey everyone, I have also been accepted. Has anyone been looking for places to live off campus since we’re not guaranteed housing?

@drm2211 Thanks for your feedback and candor! Best of luck down the road…

@collegebound62 anytime, best of luck as you start your journey this fall.

@sportsfan96 I was just accepted and have started to look around! Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would look at university edge. My brother just graduated and he had a lot of friends who lived there, all said it was very very nice

I’m also an accepted transfer student and looking for some input & advice on housing. I’ve started a new thread titled “Fall 2015 housing/roommates” for ND. Any contributions are much appreciated.

Hello Everyone! I know it’s kind of late, but I was wondering if some of you could help me with this. I’m a sophomore, and would like to transfer to ND next Fall. My major is economics. I have a problem and would like to know its proportions. One of the pre-req’s is to have taken calc. 1 and 2, and unfortunately I have not taken either one. My school offers these weird courses that combine stats and calculus and I decided to take those instead. In the event that they were not to accept these as my math pre-req’s, how much would this hinder my chances of getting accepted? Otherwise I believe I’m a good candidate (i.e. high GPA, great EC’s, etc.).
