University of Notre Dame Party/Drinking/Sex Scene???

I was just accepted at ND early action, and plan to attend in the fall!! I come from a catholic school and have never been exposed to huge parties or anything. I drink on occasion, usually with just a group of friends, but am not big into alcohol or anything. I’m wondering what the party/alcohol/sex scene is at Notre Dame? Am I going to be pressured into going to parties and will there be drinking events every night? Or just on weekends? I would enjoy going out and having fun on weekends but I would prefer to just mingle or hang out with people and study on weekdays. Also, is there a lot of hooking up and sexual activity that happens? I definitely am social and outgoing and love to meet new people, but I’m just wondering what the social environment at ND is like! Thanks to all

I do not go to ND, but i have a past neighbor that is a senior there now. He said basically depends who you hang out and spend your time with, but there are a lot of cool places to go to that students usually end up at. Some are more laid back pubs and bars and for sporting events they might go to a club to dance and have a good time.

You can find both ends of the spectrum and everything in between at nearly any college campus. Will there be drinking events almost every night? Yes, in some form or another. Will there be people just mingling, hanging out, and studying almost every night? Yes.

There’s not really much in the way of “social pressure” to drink during college for the majority of us. The pressure that is there gets a bit exaggerated by the media because a movie about a college party getting out of hand is going to sell more tickets than a movie about a couple friends sitting around a dorm room talking, playing video games, or studying.

You’ll be able to find what you’re interested in. Even schools that have reputations for being “party schools” still have many serious students that spend the majority of their time studying. Conversely, the schools that have a reputation for not being a “party school” still have plenty of students that party on a regular basis.
