Anyone heard of that school? My dad wants me to go to their 6 year dental program, but I don't think its prestigious enough... What are your thoughts?

Yeah I've heard of it. Alot of people from my school which is in NorCal go there. The main reason I would not even consider it is the location. It's in Stockton, which is kind of in the middle of nowhere.

As for prestige, I can't really help you there, I know its ranked in the Top 100 though, if that means anything to you.

My friend turned down Wharton to go because he wanted to cruise. He's transferring out because all his friends are stoners (seriously, his friend got picked up for felony possession two weeks ago). The academics are not anything to scream about, but it's OK.

the dentistry program, international realtions school, and its music program are what the school is best known for. they are one of a few schools with pre-dentistry and dentistry program. they are pretty good, considering admissions for the dentistry program is different/harder than regular acceptance in the school

i actually applied to the predental/dental program. I hear its pretty good for its special programs like dentistry, pharmacy, musics, but not anything else. I don't know which program i'm in yet, but i got invited to honors day at the end of the month.

UOP is known for their dental, education and pharmacy programs in California. It's a well-known and highly respected dental school. I don't know about their other departments, but I know that many successful dentists and pharmacists (I'm a pharmacy tech) graduated from UOP.
I visited the campus after highschool, and it's beautiful!!! I loved it, it is a very small and scenic campus. However, the area around it is very blahhh....

my friend went there for the 5 year dental program straight out of high school. the dude was so smart. he graduated a few weeks ago. He's only 24!!!!

My brother attends UOP. I have visited the campus and it is fairly nice. Some might say the area is bad (Stockton), but I disagree. There is a ghetto area near the school, but the other side of the town is pretty nice.

As far as prestige, I know it is known for its dental and pharmacy programs (like others of have mentioned). My brother is in the pharmacy program there and he tells me the classes is quite difficult. This is coming from someone who had a 4.0 UW GPA in high school.

I've also talked to the UOP admissions rep and asked him if the dental and pharmacy have hard time getting jobs. He replied saying that a very high percent of their graduates (from the programs) end up getting a job right after graduating.

In general as a school UOP might not have much prestige, but if you are looking to pursue dentistry or pharmacy, you should check it out.

Also i believe they offer a lot of financial aid, (My brother has nearly a full scholarship) so don't be scared away by the hefty tuition cost.
