To me, this conversation would be like me saying that the Right Honorable Margaret Thatcher or Winston Churchill were not distinguished British politicians (in other words, the height of absurdity).

Bah.

Bah.

Cornell admit rates are like CMU and JHU at 30%. So that is where Cornell belongs. Penn stacks around 15-20% higher than NW Cloaser to Brown and Duke.

Penn #2 Business(MBA),#1 BBA
Penn #4Med School
Penn#6 Law School
Top 20 eng School. Which is similar to Columbia, Harvard and yale
Cornell has top 10 eng program and are the best among Ivy for that.

The day penn becomes top 10 in Engineering watch out. Only harvard leads in most( MD/JD/MBA) against Penn, Yale only for Law, Stanford for Engineerin(tie for Business), MIT for Engineering. Brown and Dartwouth no whare in sight here. Look at facts folks

lets just face it, the only thing penn has going for it is wharton

otherwise, it is a doormat ivy

baba, University of Chicago has an admit rate of about 50%. UCLA's is much much lower. Does that mean that UCLA is better than University of Chicago?

semp: didn't get in? sucks =[

Lets face it Sempitern555 you are not at Penn.....not going to be at Penn and from your historical posts aren't too happy about your adcom outcomes.

"To me, this conversation would be like me saying that the Right Honorable Margaret Thatcher or Winston Churchill were not distinguished British politicians (in other words, the height of absurdity).

Bah."

Well...

Thatcher did more for the UK than most Prime Ministers ever have, but Churchill really was a waste of space. More men died under him than any other Navy Commander. He was a charlatan, a bigot, a jigoistic racist, and was voted out of Parliament within WEEKS of the war ending.

NONE of the people in power right now in the USA are worthy of their positions. Im sorry, but this is my opinion, and you can refute as much as you want, but to even compare Thatcher to Churchill (who was much better for Britian than Bush has been for the USA) is just silly.

And Duke without its basketball team is...?

Hahahaaha. I find it hysterical when people who don't get into Penn bash it for being a "doormat ivy." And it's even funnier when people say "Wharton is the only thing going for Penn." Hahahahaha...I love bitter people.

im a very bitter person, but i think penn is great...

CORNELL doesn't sound as prestigious as Oxford!

HAH. Pwned.

This conversation is dumb. Penn and Cornell are both so good, it's absurd to argue this. It's like saying that a BMW is completely inferior to a MB...

i looove penn. yea quakers!! hm. i eat oatmeal every day for breakfast.

going way back...

Then there was a pause as they processed this thought...

hahah.

UPenn is a very good school. So is Cornell. It's ridiculous to argue about whether one school is more prestigious over another. A previous poster states that it's silly to compare UPenn with Cornell because of selectivity. Cornell's acceptance rate has been dropping, and on next year's rankings, it will be about 26%, narrowing down on the gap, and it will not "hover" around 30%. Comparing a top 20 school against another based on prestige doesn't make sense because they are all very good.

Check what you say: UChi 50% is yield not admit rate. Those rates belong to Case lehigh.

dbl post .

it's 40%: Admission 8,751 applied, 3,503 admitted, 1,203 enrolled

so, now what did your post have to do with my point?

and the name's pandas.

Penn is better than Cornell because Penn accepted me and Cornell didn't. I'm glad I solved this problem for everyone. :)

huh... nickyjane... i see you found the BETTER ivy lol :)

Hahah, what a traitor! :p JK, love you!

If you ask college status-conscious people OUTSIDE of Penn and Cornell, they'll usually say Penn is better.

If this were 10 years ago, that would not be the case.

St Pandas: 40% rate would UCh close to CMU/Tuft/UMICH. They are some where 20-25 range in ranking.
