Hi everybody! I’ve just submitted my housing deposit to Penn and will be attending in the fall as a freshman. Can anyone shine a light on the various shower situations in the dorms at Penn? I know that the suites like at the New College House, Gregory, and Du Bois have private bathrooms, but what are the showers like in places like Hill, Kings Court English, and the Quad? Is it just the stereotypical huge shower room with zero privacy or are there individual showers within the shower rooms? Thanks in advance.
I have heard that Hill will have suite style bathrooms after its renovations. Is that true?

Oh wow sounds like a complete change from before. Hill definitely needed a major overhaul.
Looking forward to the day they also decide to renovate or better yet completely demolish the high-rises.
@Penn95 Just curious, why don’t you like the high rises?
They just look really ugly to me. Also they are very sloppily made, sound proofing is practically non-existent and they just look old and unappealing inside too. They should tear then=m down and build something like the New College House. Or something that combines both the collegiate goth elements of the quad and modern elements.
I heard one story that the administration built them as temporary housing back in the 1970s and were planning to demolish them and build something nicer in the future when they had more money. But really unsure if this is true.
I’d file that one away as urban legend.
My sons hall in the quad has maybe 10 or so rooms and two bathrooms. Both bathrooms are gender nuetral and each have maybe 2 stalls and 2 shower stalls and two sinks. Just a shower curtain on the shower stalls and hooks right outside of the curtain so you can hang towels and a robe. Son said it works out fine and he never has had to wait and rarely even sees anyone.
I think he said they (the hall) all vote at the beginning of the year as whether to make the bathrooms gender nuetral or single sex. Gender nuetral has worked out fine w no complaints from anyone he said.
Kings Court also has private stalls for toilet and shower. Something else to consider – the community bathrooms are cleaned by Penn but the private bathrooms are not.
