What are some interesting facts about upenn that I should put into my essay (why upenn is for me)

I kind of think the point is that you have to do the research yourself. No offense or anything

Yeah, what's the point if someone is just going to hand that information over to you?

Google is great for this type of stuff. Wikipedia might be a start.

if you can't think of any reason upenn is for you, why would you apply there?

^^^
the op is applying because he/she knows penn is a good school. unfortunately, that is not a satisfactory answer for "why ___" essays, so he/she needs to find some other stuff to talk about.

100% of the student body is human or some off shoot of the homo sapien genus

Just because a university is a "good school," isn't actually a "good reason" to apply there. Which is why you are absolutely correct - that is not a satisfactory answer for "why___?" essays. If the op has no knowledge about the school, its particular programs, the location, the traditions, etc... then they need to go back to the beginning of their college search process and figure out what they are looking for. Compiling a list of "name" schools for no reason other than the name itself results in an inability to answer the "why" question at all - much less satisfactorily.

The "other stuff" to talk about includes discussing your interests and goals and the specific ways that school will help you achieve them. Discuss your talents and abilities and give specifics on how you will contribute to specific aspects of that school. (Notice the word "specific" used often here.) Mention what you like about the programs, majors, location and campus that drew you to that school. If you have nothing to say on those subjects, either research them (yourself) or choose schools that you CAN discuss those points and more.

I interview for an HYP college. Often I'll ask why did they apply. You'd be surprised at the number who answer "because of its prestige".

I hope the OP does some serious (i.e. not posting on CC) research into his/her college selections.
