University Of Pennsylvania-Wharton

Hi everyone,
I was wondering about what kinds of improvements I should work on over the next few years to maximize my chances at getting into Wharton...I do have 2 more years, as I am going into Sophomore year in September.
Here are my stats, and what I will have by Senior year:

I am a white female.

GPA: unweighted was a 3.4 this year, I took all honors level courses, but my school does not add weight to the difficulty. Also, my school does not rank.

Projected SAT Score: My school's average score is 2050, but the smaller section, focusing in business averages around 2100, and my teachers have suggested that I will fall in the higher range amongst my class. (2200+ area)

Some activities I have done so far are:
Produced a business plan, and came in first place for class with the Foundation for Free Enterprise.
Participated in the Euro Challenge for 2 years(this past year and have signed up for next year)
DECA
Investors Club, am looking to obtain treasurer position next year.
Participated in a Summer Business Camp at a local college.
In Junior year, my Business Academy (35 of 265 students) works at getting an IB Diploma.
Every year, at least one person of the 35ish students get accepted into Wharton, and do very well. My school also sends many students to Ivy Leagues and their equivalents.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I plan on joining the Choir in my school next year, and intend on raising my GPA...

Thank you for reading my stats, and what do you feel my chances are for Wharton, and what are your recommendations for increasing my chances, as I have 3 more years before applying.

By chance, would you happen to go to BCA?

Yes I do(:

Haha, my school sent like 8 kids to the academies; didn’t get though…
It’s alright, I feel like a big fish in a little pond at my public school.

Anyway, UPenn is an absolute crapshoot. There are just so many factors that even great stats are denied.

However, my advice to you would be to raise your GPA while you still can and find an impressive Internship for your Senior Experience thing; they’ll love it.

I know a few kids from last yea’s ABF worked at Merrill-Lynch, and that just oozes impressiveness, so keep at it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! Do you think I should participate in anymore ECs or find one and stick with it?
Also, does a gpa that has no weight whatsoever have any advantage to (or is looked at more closely than) gpas where honors courses have extra weight?

I’m not sure I understand how your school’s average SAT is a proxy for your score, but you should definitely shoot for 2200+

Sounds like you definitely have a strong interest in business, so that will work in your favor

U have to understand Wharton is super super super competitive and even the best applicants still have a low reach at best!
Your GPA is low low low for applicants to UPenn Wharton. Ec are wesome (and make sure to demonstrate leadership). SAT should be fine if u get 2200+…

Ive seen kids with super low gpa get into Wharton as well as kids with super low SAT get in…Wharton is one of the best schools at really identifying the applicant on more than one level.

Assuming your interests are genuine i would say u have a low reach/reach for UPenn Wharton

chance back!?
