University of Pittsburgh-Class of 2019 Acceptance

No, not the Stamps.

Oh ok.

@apittparent My daughter had similar stats - surprised at the low merit $9000- committing elsewhere she is getting full tuition and 2 research scholarships. Next to no debt in 4 years is where she wants to be before grad school. Maybe next time Pitt. Good luck to all who have committed to Pitt. Itā€™s a great school.

@univin2015 @mommdc Well, I declined the offer on April 3rd. Just wanted to update you both on that.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if Pitt sent acceptance emails for Transfer students as well or if the acceptance email thing is strictly for freshman (Class 2019)?

@chevyb, At this point we are only sending the emails to freshmen applicants. Transfer applicants can expect a letter response from our office.

Best of luck!

@hailtopitt1787 When Pitt views the senior year grades on the transcript to ensure continued academic success, are they mainly looking at weighted GPA or letter grades received in each class? For example, what if you had a 4.5 GPA but got a C within that GPA? Would it still be considered acceptable since the GPA is still very high? Or would having the C be a problem even with the high GPA? Several people at my school along with myself were wondering how that was evaluated.

@Chelsey123,

You shouldnā€™t have anything to worry about, but if you are really stressed out about it I would encourage you to send an email to oafa@pitt.edu and ask to talk to an admissions counselor.

So Pitt primarily looks at overall weighted GPA for the senior year? And as long as thatā€™s in the 4.0 range weā€™d most likely be okay regardless of the individual letter grades?

@Chelsey123, As I said, please contact an admissions counselor if you have further questions. I am not directly involved in the process of reviewing transcripts and donā€™t have too much information to give you. If you email oafa@pitt.edu, our staff will be happy to assist you.

While weā€™re talking about less than ideal occurrences in the senior year, I was wondering if Pitt would rescind an application for plagiarizing or cutting a class based on that alone?

@kaylamarie097, Our admissions committee reserves the right to revoke admission in some circumstances, but it is up to the discretion of the committee. As your acceptance letter states, ā€œAcceptance is provisional based upon continued satisfactory performance in your classes and graduation from high schoolā€¦ā€ If you have more specific questions or something you are particularly worried about, you can contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

Yeah. Itā€™s a little confusing because some kids may get an F for one quarter in a class but still have a 4.0 for that same quarter because of taking many other AP classes and getting As in them. Iā€™m kind of asking a similar thing as Chelsey in regards to whether itā€™s more about the overall GPA or if one unsatisfactory grade like an F for one quarter could end the acceptance. I was just wondering what you may have noticed happening in the past with a similar case.

We look at the entirety of the transcript. Basically, we are looking to see that your overall GPA is satisfactory, you did not fail any classes, and did indeed graduate high school, etc. @Chelsey123 and @kaylamarie097

As long as you continue to work hard in your classes, you should be fine.

Okay thank you, thatā€™s very helpful. So Pitt doesnā€™t review things like attendance or discipline as part of that decision? From what you said, it seems solely based on academics.

Can someone inform me of upcoming (and past) deadlines for the freshmen attending Pitt in the fall (specifically related to housing, roommates, placement tests, pitt start, etc.) There were a few deadlines on June 1st I believe. I just want to make sure Iā€™m not missing anything.

Tuition deposit was due May 1, housing deposit due date was on your housing contract packet, I think roommate requests were due June1 and placement tests, online orientation and list of courses should be completed one week before Pittstart.

So the roommate request through room sync is due on June 1? I thought the LLC application was due on June 1 too.

I would go check your student portal and /or emails or housing packet. Iā€™m just going by what I remember from my Dā€™s housing packet, I think the LLC app was due sometime in May?

Okay, if anyone knows any more of this information about important deadlines, please let me know.
