University of Pittsburgh-Class of 2019 Acceptance

My D’s roommate request was due 5/18 I think. She did room sync, but not sure if it’s different for everybody.

@Chelsey123, Any important housing deadlines should be in your Panther Central packet.

You should register for PittStart, if you have not yet done so. And if you download the Guidebook App and search for “PittStart 2015” that guide has a new student checklist. It breaks down what you need to do before, during, and after PittStart to ensure that you will have a smooth first semester. It’s a very helpful tool and it will give you many of those deadlines and information you are looking for all in one place.

Okay thank you! What should I know regarding the Panther connect orientation retreats? Should we be signing up for that now?

@Chelsey123, I am not sure what the registration deadline is, but you can register here: http://www.fye.pitt.edu/FYERetreats/index.php

I heard somewhere that there was a deadline for completion of the math placement test on June 1st. I’m pretty sure it only has to be completed a week prior to PittStart. Could someone confirm this?

I am a waitlisted applicant for the fall, I have been set up with a Pitt email and account online around a month ago, yet have not had any official letter or email to confirm admission for the fall semester. Does anyone have any insight?

@kaylamarie097, Yes, it is one week before your PittStart. You can find information on deadlines here: https://www.pittstart.pitt.edu/freshmen_exam.aspx. I would also encourage you to download the Guidebook App (and search for PittStart 2015 within the app). That app has a checklist for new students which outlines things you should accomplish before, during, and after PittStart.

@runski2496, If you have questions about your admissions status, you can call our office and one of our processors can assist you! 412-624-7488.

Does anyone know how we will know if Pitt receives our final transcript? Will we be notified if Pitt doesn’t receive it by a certain time? I put in the request to send my final transcript to my counselor but I’m not really sure if she got or will send it soon because she has a huge pile of these requests and someone said that she had already left for the summer.

Chelsey123, You can give our office a quick call and our processors can tell you whether or not we have it on file: 412-624-7488.

Just got an email of acceptance! If I applied to the Business School and the Pittsburgh campus and didn’t list any secondary schools, that means I got into the Business School, right?

@timpi21, Your letter should tell you what school you have been accepted into on the very first paragraph. In your case, if you have been accepted to the Pittsburgh campus it should say the College of Business Administration.

Congrats!

@timpi21, Congrats on your acceptance!!

Hi, I applied to Pitt main campus about 6 weeks ago. It seems like it is taking longer for me to hear back than everyone else I know who applied. Does that mean I’m borderline of getting in? I took lots of AP classes and honors / CHS with a 3.9 GPA but a low sat score of 1620. I applied to the Arts and Science school.

@lacrosse1998, The length of time it takes for you to hear back does not necessarily mean anything about what admissions decision you will receive. I know waiting can be stressful, but our Admissions Committee does their best to give everyone an efficient and thorough review. If you would like to check the status of your application, you are welcome to contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu. Thank you for your patience!

@hailtopitt1787 just curious but is it the same person using this account or does it change?

@pitt2021, It’s just one person!

Pitt doesn’t have any place to list EC so I sent my resume to oafa@pitt.edu so I was wondering two things…

  1. How do I know if Pitt got my resume?
  2. I only focused on one of my activities in my essays and that’s why I sent my resume. Is this going to hurt me? I have really strong ECs but I thought it wouldn’t make for good essays if I just listed them.

Last year my son also sent a resume because he felt that he wasn’t able to really let the admissions staff know who he was based on the limited number of characters for the essays. It did not hurt him one bit! I honestly think it was an asset. I know that hailtopitt (admissions staffer on this board) will tell you that it is not necessary though. Did you put your id number on the top of it? My son never had a problem sending in extra items with an id on the top. They always made their way to his file. You can always call the admissions office and ask though just to ease your mind. Good luck!

@curiousinpa Ah, thank you! I actually did not include my Pitt ID but I included my name, address, DOB. I will call them to ease my mind. And oops! This is the class of 2019 thread but thanks for helping!

@jumpingstar, you are very welcome! I’m sure your resume will get there will all of the identifying info that you included! Plus this is a good thread to ask on since we’ve all been there, done that before! Good Luck!
