University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

Love it, @Finnb, “buttons turned” - congrats!

@hailtopitt1787 am I put at a disadvantage during admissions and scholarship consideration if I only answer 2 out of the 3 short answer responses?

Thanks @Winky1 … Would be good if an official acceptance arrives this week. Will your daughter accept? Are you waiting to hear about merit money? With her scores and activities, she should be hopeful.

@finnb, the whole process is just starting! We are excited about this opportunity at Pitt, but she has other schools to apply to, and yes, merit $ and financial aid is all a part of it. Thanks for your kind words.

After you guys submitted your Pitt application, how long did it take to receive the email about the portal? Also, for those of you who used your ACT scores, how long does it take for Pitt to receive them and does your application status change? Mine currently says paid. Thanks!

@finnb Congrats on the buttons turning…it will be a nice relief to see that acceptance come through. Hang in there, I know the process is stressful but it’s a long road ahead. Is Pitt your number one choice?

@music465 I think I was able to check the ACT site to confirm they were sent out and the Pitt application said “completed” when they received everything; if I recall they were sent very fast to Pitt but it was a bit early and not sure if they get more bogged down this time of year. It took just about a month, my D18 applied on 8/14 and we heard 9/13 via email, the letter arrived in the mail on 9/16. GOOD LUCK!!!

@AmyBeth68 Is your daughter in state or oos?

@alliestaman22 She is OOS (NJ)

@AmyBeth68 Thanks! I’m OOS as well (DE)

@alliestaman22 my D is also applying to Udel…that’s where I went actually. I love DE :D. Good luck in your search process!!!

@AmyBeth68 it is high on the list but will need to consider merit aid. I am out of state (NJ)

@finnb absolutely, we’re in the same position. My D really needs a decent merit package, it’s her current #1 choice but a lot depends on affordability. Is Rutgers in the mix as well? I wish my D liked it more, I know it would be incredibly affordable :(. Anyway no fretting; with those scores there will be a lot of opportunities :). Hang in there!!!

@AmyBeth68 Did an engineering program at Rutgers this summer. The engineering campus and dorm are great, but I’m not really interested in Rutgers. Do you know when U Pitt merit awards/scholarships might be sent for kids who have been accepted?

I believe the scholarship committee begins meeting weekly in mid-October. From last year’s thread, people thought they met on a Friday for decisions and then letters were mailed out on Mondays.

Also, Hail to Pitt said last year that GAP letters were sent out about 10 days after the acceptance letters, so if anyone is waiting on a GAP invitation or acceptance, that might be a good time line to start from. Of course, things might’ve changed and my intel is wrong!!

@daffyduck414, That’s totally fine. You do not have to answer all three questions.

@music465, You should get an email about the portal from our Technology Help Desk within 72 business hours of submitting your application.

@finnb, We will start sending scholarship notification in October/November and notifications go out weekly through February. Those who are selected to receive a scholarship will hear back by March 1, at the latest.

@Winky1, It depends on the specific GAP, but 10 days after acceptance is a good estimate to start with. For the Medicine GAP, the process is a little different: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/guaranteed-admissions-programs/medicine-gap/

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Thanks, Hail to Pitt.

@AmyBeth68 Thanks! Best of luck to your daughter!

@pghgrl Good luck to your D, hopefully confirmation today!

@finnb What do you mean by your buttons turned?
