Thank you, @Alamere!
My D got her merit scholarship letter last week too, 2 weeks after she got her official acceptance letter. She is in-state, and received $10,000/year ($40,000 for 4 years). 4.0 GPA unweighted, 107 weighted, rank 3/270 in her class, 1550 SAT, plenty of EC and community services. Waiting to hear about Honor College acceptance. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting! I do want to give credit to the admission staff at Pitt for processing everything so efficiently!
Just curious if anyone has received a merit scholarship yet without submitting SAT scores? My son applied on August 1st and was accepted in September to the guaranteed Pharmacy Doctoral program. He has not heard anything yet about merit. He has registered for the SATs four times, all of which were cancelled (most recently on Nov 7th), and I’m starting to wonder if that could be a reason why he hasn’t heard anything yet.
@jhabriley: what are your son’s stats? The recent recipients of merit scholarships have stellar stats . Of those some were test optional. The top tier of students are probably sent merit first followed by the 2nd tier. But this is only my speculation.
I think most of the recipients have posted in this post as well as the following post.

We are also hoping we get some eventually.
Did those that got merit scholarships also apply to honors? My daughter has not submitted her honors application yet, since it was not due until December 1st.
@RockyPA : Yes, my D applied to honors. She submitted both the regular and honors college applications together in late August. We had to wait till mid October for the acceptance since they were waiting to get her official SAT results from September. As you mentioned, I suspect that they’re waiting to see her essay on the honors college application. Your D has superb stats, she likely will get even higher amount of merit scholarship.
@RockyPA my son applied to honors but I don’t remember if it was a separate application. If I remember correctly he applied through the CommonApp and he had to answer one specific of the 4 supplemental essays to be considered for Honors. He has not heard anything about honors. Your D’s stats are stellar. I am sure she will get some type of scholarship. They also give out 24 full rides according to their website, figures crossed for your daughter.
When she applied through the CommonApp there was an option to write the additional honors essay when she submitted her application, or wait and submit it later on… she decided to submit it later since she wanted to think more about what she wanted to write (she did write the other 2 supplemental essays, however). She will hopefully submit the honors essay this weekend! Thanks for your reply!
Buttons last Wednesday, email yesterday. No idea how the process works, but we contacted our regional rep week before last. D applied early August, ymmv.
Has anyone heard a decision from the Guaranteed Admission Program for BS/DPT?
@jhabriley I did go back through this post and have yet to notice anyone receiving merit aid that did not submit a test score. It seems Pitt has knocked off some easier decisions first. Acceptances were not as quick for the no test score kids too in the beginning. Will be really interesting to see if some scholarships start trickling out.
@vannevka: I surely hope so. My D is one of them.
@engDad63 So happy you finally heard! Would love to know what took so long. Congrats to your D!!
@2021YayCollege
My son is 3.94 UW, ranked 1st in a small school, honors and AP classes, lots of leadership, ECs and community service. I contacted our regional rep last night and she responded that merit awards won’t be sent out until February and students will be considered regardless of submitting scores. Has anyone else been told that same information?
Hi,
My DD applied yesterday but she has not gotten an email confirmation that they received her application. How long does this take? Shoule we ask her to follow up with the regional rep?
Thanks
I also wanted to add that the application was submitted through the common app.
@hailtopitt1787 My application was marked complete on October 28th, but I got my portal on September 18th. This is because I didn’t realize there is an additional personal statement to do for test optional. I was wondering if I should expect a decision 4-6 weeks from October 28th or if I should have gotten one already? If anyone else has any opinion please let me know?
@Noahscott13 I believe it’s 4-6 weeks from when your application was marked complete. It doesn’t get reviewed until it’s complete, it’s just a file with your name on it until everything is in.
@jhabriley My daughter applied mid September, was accepted three weeks later and got her merit award two weeks after that. Lots of people reporting merit awards so not sure why they told you not until February (unless that is for test optional). She is not interested in applying to the honors college.
@MDmom2021, did your daughter receive an email confirmation after the application was submitted? Also, did she apply through the common app or Pitt website? I thought she might receive an email confirmation that her application has been received by now.
Has anyone received acceptance for Honors ? or invite to apply for medicine GAP?
Thanks.
