Hi guys, I checked my pitt mobile and it changed to say that I can accept or decline for undeclared dietrich for 2021-2022, does this mean I got in?
Congrats !!! You got in. You should look for letter of acceptance in portal mail soon and a “cute” email probably in a week or 2.
Hello everyone! Applied on Nov.11 for EA business and still waiting. I check my portal everyday. Should I even bother checking on the weekends? Are decisions only coming out M-F?
For those of you who got the buttons, how long it took to get the email and the snail mail?
Thanks
My D got her snail and email a week after her buttons showed up. I believe the email tends to come out randomly, sometimes before and sometimes after the snail mail.
@HonorHopeful Thanks!. Did she have to click on “Accept” to get the snail mail and email?
Does anyone think that applying to honors program might increase change of OOS merit. My S was accepted to Swanson engineering right b4 Thanksgiving and then submitted honors essay early this week. Just wondering if that might boost his chances!
He has 4.0 UW GPA and 10 APs, OOS at a top public HS. He submitted a good (31 ACT) but not sky high test score – COVID messed up his testing (like everybody else’s)
Tks!
No, she did not accept the admission as we’re still waiting to hear from other colleges. We really appreciate the offer, but can’t commit yet
Has any admitted student gained access to the Pitt email?
We got a separate letter in the mail about 10-14 days after admissions packet
My daughter got the buttons an hour back with undecided.
applied 11/4 and just heard on 12/3 so I wouldn’t worry yet
Has anyone heard anything about Pitt 2025 Guaranteed Med Admissions? thanks.
Sorry - i’m new to CC - and i don’t know how to start a new thread. So i hit reply My daughter applied to Pitt at my suggestion - OOS, 3.9 UW, 4.56 W. 30 ACT.
I knew that to get merit, in the past you needed a 33. This year, however, is different. Two things:
-
In two conversations with Pitt, we were told the ACT was superscored this year. No where does it say that and not everyone mentioned it. It’s the same as U of South Carolina - it’s not posted but everyone there says so.
-
I personally called admission to ask whether to go score optional - and they said with a 30, send it in because it’s very solid.
Now that I’ve read kids getting merit on here without sending in aid, I wonder if we erred. We’ve been in about a month - and I know they keep sending out aid until March.
Thoughts - should i call, say we made a mistake, etc? She’ll love PItt I believe - mid/large and urban - but without aid we have no chance to attend.
Thanks
Sorry - new at this - let me add the 30 was single sitting. 32 superscore (if they are using it as a couple times admissions said they are), 9 APs (one 3, the rest 4 and 5) and she answered three of the four essay questions (only two requested).
Perhaps she’ll get aid later or perhaps she won’t. Not everyone does. But obviously we all hope to.
Appreciate your feedback on whether we need to be patient or if I should call admissions and ask to have her re-reviewed sans ACT. I’m doubtful they would.
GPA is already very strong and I think 30 and 32 super score is solid ACT , couple of folks we know already got admissions in that score range and definitely will help with merit scholarships
You can call the admissions and send the scores.
Thanks - she applied with the scores and was admitted. My concern is reading about all the merit everyone received including those that sent in no scores. So at this point, we have to wait and hope. I’m just second guessing my advice to my daughter because in past years they stated you needed a 33. But this year is like no past year.
I understand what you are saying and am in the same boat. My D21 has a 30 ACT composite with a 32 superscore. She emailed Pitt admissions and they said they would only take into consideration the composite score. As for the submitting or not, I don’t know the right answer but I do feel like if they looked at D21’s rigor and grades, her ACT could be anywhere from a 28 to a 34. I don’t know if it was smart or not to confirm that it was right in the middle!
There is a lot of “unknown” or “misinformation” out there. By that I mean, two folks in the PItt admissions office have said they are superscoring ACT this year - but you were told just the composite and that’s what is published. American shows a composite - but our admissions counselor said they are superscoring for the first time - so that’s mixed message. It doesn’t say that on their website. The only one I am confident in is U of South Carolina. It says composite on the website but 100% of the people say they are superscoring this year. It’s funny - we are pushing our kids, they are doing their best to impress - but often times the communication from the schools falls far short.
Yeah that really stinks. Now I feel like I should send her other scores even though it’s a lower composite just in case they will superscore it.
