The whole college processes are unpredictable with lots of “unknown”. You should reach out to Pitt’s Enrollment Service manager (regional rep) to see if he or she can provide a clear answer. When we emailed the ESM in our area, he is very responsive and helpful.
The only type of scholarships that is available to international students is the International Freshmen Scholarships. Based on UPitt website, the value would be up to $2000 per year for 4 years. You can find more info on the Pitt scholarship website. All the other scholarships require the applicants to be US citizens or permanent residents.
Has anyone in-state heard back re: merit scholarships? My daughter was accepted to SCI mid October (SAT 1570 single sitting, 4.0 u/w, 4.76 weighted, all APs junior and senior year).
I would be shocked if your daughter didn’t get one of the big scholarships(maybe full ride) with those stats. My son received a full tuition (diversity) with lower stats. I am in state.
One thing to note is that I didn’t get any emails or notifications on the portal about scholarships, it only came via paper mail, so you might have missed the mail or never received it in the first place.
You should check Pitt’s PS Mobile Portal now to see if the scholarship info got updated under Financial Section. I just checked and saw the info there. In addition, it’s still very early in the admissions process, so like @sparkleybarkley said, your daughter may be a candidate for Chancellor’s scholarship.
Just looking for some reassurance: it’s been 4 weeks since everything was submitted and son hasn’t heard anything from business school. Seeing how fast a turn-around there was for the high stats students, should he start looking for other safeties? We were told by college counselor this was a safety–students from his very rigorous and competitive high school are rarely denied, but his grades put him in the bottom half of his class. We we have been holding out hope, but evidence points to him either getting deferred or rejected. Has anybody who waited this long gotten in? Thank you.
Did she submit her SAT score after she applied ? or maybe Pitt didn’t receive the score when they made the decision ?
Maybe you should reach out to Pitt’s admissions regional rep and ask. For one of other school, I contacted the admission counselor regarding merit’s issue to find out that they made decision before receiving ACT score. We are still waiting for the adjustment but at least, the school promised to take action.
@ttb1263 They have had her SAT scores from the beginning (she also sent her two subject tests, Math 2 and Bio), and that info is all in the portal. It is kind of strange that she hasn’t heard anything, but maybe they are considering her for the other full ride scholarships? I may have her reach out to the regional rep for some info.
