University of Pittsburgh Class of 2025 Official Discussion Thread

Thanks. And congratulations!

Still waiting here too! Lol :crossed_fingers::pray:

Anybody who applied in mid-Nov and hasn’t heard from the Admissions office yet?

It’ll be nice to have at least one acceptance before the holidays. Pitt is on top of the list for our Senior student.

my son applied 11/4 - no word yet… no buttons. He’s the only one of his friends who hasn’t heard anything (yes or no) from any school… but we expect 4 schools incl Pitt any day now

good luck MamaEE!!

11-11 and haven’t heard yet and Pitt is first choice .

You too! Fingers crossed : )

Update - got the buttons (12/16)! Applied 11/12. So ~5 weeks (Dietrich)

Son applied 11/7. Nothing yet. Definitely worried.

Applied 10/17, but took a while because I messed up my test-optional form, so it took an extra 2-3 weeks for my application to be considered complete. still no word or buttons from Pitt yet, and I’m starting to get a little nervous…

@johndoe15881588 Congratulations on Medicine’s GAP.

Anybody else got Medicine’s GAP letter ?

Same thing happened to me I applied 10/20, Pitt said they hadn’t received my transcript and my application was considered complete on 12/2. Still haven’t heard anything.

Does Dietrich have a faster turnaround than other schools? Does business school, perhaps take longer?

Applied 11/5. Scores didn’t get there till a week later. Still waiting - no buttons or any other info :disappointed:

Having read a lot of posts here, anything between 4-8 weeks seems normal. Also, FYI, you have to click on the “accept/decline” under the admissions tab to get to a new screen that shows separate buttons.

Got the cute email last Monday but have not yet gotten the snail mail. No information on merit aid either. Should we be worried?

Thanks - crazy question. I always “reply” and in this case that’s valid - but if I’m just making a comment - how do I? I don’t see any choice for that.

OK - I know no one is “entitled” to merit aid. And either on the aid webinar tonight or somewhere I read 24% (yep, specific but it sticks with me) - so nearly a quarter gets scholarships.

I had my daughter apply like crazy. She hated me but understands and honestly most essays were re-used. The reason is - more offers - so dad can afford it. So it might be Pitt is a casualty. She added it to the list at my urging - mid to large size and urban. Also, it’s got a huge Jewish life. We would have visited for sure but Covid prevented that.

On the flipside, she LOVED College of Charleston. I’m not sure the pedigree is there - but if she loved it. She also got invited to Honors Weekend…so in theory one school’s gain is another loss. Even there she got $12K.

But U of SC gave her “at least” $85K - formal offer in March and Alabama $28K (vs. $31K tuition).

These are going to be challenges many of us have. Our kids will love a school - and as a parent we’ll be like - I want to retire, not work til I’m 98.

And I always think - at my job (I work for a major auto manufacturer), we wouldn’t know Pitt from Akron from Murray State.

Honestly, all these kids, if their minds are right, will have great experience, great learning, and hopefully lifelong memories. I keep telling myself that

Just a GAP update, after receiving the letter I still had not received an email. I did what the letter said and sent an email to the med school admissions and they sent me the email with my credentials to apply the next day.

I empathize, my daughter has gotten scholarships from U Mass, C ofC, Miami university.
Nothing from Pitt. I already have a full pay son at Pitt. It is a wonderful school but no scholarship money for a straight A student is a hard no.
