University of Pittsburgh Class of 2025 Official Discussion Thread

Congratulations! How long after your acceptance did you hear about merit?

When did you apply? That’s “awesome” news because I was concerned you needed a 33 to get aid. Congrats to you. I only hear great things about PITT and would love for my daughter to be able to visit. $15K would put it on the list for sure.

I applied in late October. I was accepted about a week ago and just got the news today! I really appreciate all the support! I really love Pitt and it is becoming an option for me!

@sparkleybarkley

Same for us but I’m thinking they maybe updating or doing working to the Portal,

No Worry !!!

Congratulations to you @SDSUHopefulClassof2025

Is Cathedral of Learning Achievement Scholarship for diversity?

Yes, I looked it up and it was based off of Weighted GPA, Test Scores, and Short Answer Questions. There is a page on the Pitt website that gives average stats to receive merit. This award required an A average with a couple B’s and a 1340/28 Test score. I think my 31 helped me get it.

I wrote my essays about overcoming medical issues and how although it harmed my GPA, I bounced back academically and athletically to play my sport and earn all A’s my junior year. My other one was about being a gay URM.

Still no news of merit aid but my daughter received a little package with some stickers and a notebook from Pitt today… LOL

We also received that package. Daughter was hoping for socks since it’s winter :slight_smile:

Does anyone know the ticket price for OOS students?

Just asking because the website leaves off room and board

I thought Pitt was around $35k for OOS. Merit would definitively seal the deal.

My mom wants me to wait for all of my admissions decisions to come in before making any decisions. I tend to agree. She is also scared of me moving OOS, which I disagree with, but in the end she has told me I can go were a want. Now having some hope for other schools to give merit $$. Pitt is one of my top choices right now.

@MAMom01810 OOS tuition and fees range from around $33K to $42K, depending on the school (nursing is the most expensive). This cost does not include room and board which again ranges, but the average is $12K.

OOS, 3.85 UW/4.3ish W, no test scores, 13 AP courses (mostly 4s and 5s), solid EC and recommendation letters.

My son got that notebook today. He was so excited about it. Lol! I still think your daughter is going to get a big scholarship. Her stats are amazing.
