University of Pittsburgh Class of 2028 Official Discussion Thread

Just a tidbit from prior years…the documents will be loaded before you get the email to check, and often before the accept/decline buttons show up. Still probably a few days too early but wanted to mention that.

Thanks! Anxiously waiting. Steps/progress seems to be a bit slower this year. Was hoping to hear before Labor Day. Fingers crossed.

Wow! Congrats! That’s an early notification and I’m sure feels amazing having that acceptance already.

Thank you! Yes, it’s a weight off. She looked just to see if anything had changed. We definitely didn’t expect to hear this soon. I wanted to post right away bc we did not receive notice that the application was going to review. I know that this was some concern since Pitt did that last year. So, if anyone hasn’t received that review email, it’s okay!

Congrats on the early acceptance!

My child could be NMSF. Is it better to wait to apply to Pitt until notifications for NMSF or apply ASAP then somehow (how?) update the app if notified?

Not an expert here but Pitt encourages you to apply early and the earlier the better the chance with rolling admissions. If your child could be NMSF then I would think they have high enough scores and grades to where the stats would be good enough to get in anyway. Check the class profile here: Class Profile - Admissions | University of Pittsburgh. If they fall on the middle to upper end then the chances of getting in would be good and a NMSF might not boost it materially. But not sure with scholarships and other things to consider if that would make sense to wait to include.

Thanks very much! That’s true - other scores and grades are good . I suppose an email could be sent to the AO with any updates for merit/honors but I’m not sure if there was another way to update.

My older daughter was a NMSF and applied mid October… was admitted within 10 days.

Definitely apply early. It makes a huge difference in acceptance rates. At every session the AO’s stressed applying early to boost chances.

did her application status on the pitt app say pending

It did until last night. Then it said “completed.”

Do you know if it said in review before completed in the portal or just pending to completed?

Honestly, I don’t know. The last time that she looked at it was the 18th. It was still saying pending then.

S24 application status just changed to application complete. There is an accept/decline button that he is too scared to click, but no email and no update in the document center.

Applied 8/3 (Using Pitt App)
Application status said pending till the day before, never said review
OOS
Applied to SCI,
test optional.
UW GPA 3.92 and submitted essay and resume.

There are 2 threads going, so I will post in the other thread too. (Maybe mods could merge them)
