Have you had any further updates? My son applied the same day.
@Milgrad no updates! Hopefully soon! Which school did he apply to? My daughter applied to the College of Business.
S received an email with a welcome video today.
S applied 8/22. Application changed to complete this afternoon and he has the Accept / Decline buttons. Swanson School of Engineering.
Don’t panic if your application takes longer than expected - some are just slower or fall through the cracks. My son applied around 9/1 last year and 6 weeks went by with nothing other than the processing message. We were seeing all kinds of faster acceptances here and were very nervous. After the 6 weeks, his college counselor called to check on it and they processed it within hours - he was admitted with a merit award and the law GAP.
D24 applied 8/30, last week. Common App + SRAR on the same day.
8/31 she received the emails about her account, etc.
I had her log in last night, and I would like clarity, please, on the starting set up of the portal. I don’t have access, but I am basing this on my memory from last night. This was on a laptop, not phone.
In the student center (I think), there is an admissions tab on the left. When you click on it, there are two tabs: admissions (??) and accept/decline. If you click on the accept/decline tab, it is empty, and there are no “buttons” (yet, hopefully).
The document center is empty, the to-dos don’t say anything, and application status is pending.
This is correct? It seems weird to have an accept/decline tab when not everyone gets in, but maybe that’s because of branch campuses and wait lists? Is anyone actually full-on rejected and not even waitlisted?
@RockyPA He applied to the school of Engineering.
That’s basically what my son has but he has a document in document center. The document is to give him peoplesoft ID.
I’m sure some applicants are denied. For example, if a student applies for a nursing or engineering major and their stats aren’t high enough for any branch campus program in those majors, I would imagine they would be denied.
My son applied 8/16 (Arts & Sciences school). WIthin 2 days, he got the email to set up his log-in. On 8/24 he had a “To Do” to submit official SAT scores (he already had). The next day, those SAT scores must have reached Pitt because his application was marked complete on 8/25. Had a PeopleSoft ID letter on 8/25 in his Document Center. He didn’t check for a while but on 9/2 he had the “Accept/Decline” buttons appear when he clicked on “Accept/Decline” tab. Today 9/6, he has the acceptance letter in his Document Center. Still no email, but I imagine that is coming. He is thrilled! Pitt is in his top 3 schools and he won’t hear from the others for months. Very happy!!
so happy for you and S. My daughter got accepted on 8/24 and has been eagerly waiting for an email and nothing yet.
Email with personalized video came yesterday, a little over one week after acceptance letter in document center.
Loved the personalized video!
What were your child’s stats? My DS applied 8/6 and we have heard nothing
Dd applied 8/22, accept/decline buttons on 9/1, 2 letters in documents section on 9/5. School of Nursing. Second letter was guaranteed admissions to Nursing grad school! We don’t know how competitive Nursing BSN is, but know it’s a great program. Very happy! Good luck to all!
Would those who have a response/acceptance please share their stats, major, etc.?

Sharing in case it could help:
- Son applied through the Pitt site 8/8
- On 8/29 we logged in and saw the application showed completed and there were options under the Accept/Decline tab
…note…we only checked being it was exactly 3 week and was curious, not sure when they officially showed - Letters of Acceptance were created and listed in his document center 8/30 for both his Pre-Pharmacy and also from the Guaranteed Pharm D option.
No actual acceptance e-mail as of yet
He did already commit being it was his first choice school
