ACCEPTED!!! I got my letter in the mail this afternoon (I live only about an hour from UR). I feel so much better, for I was just waitlisted from Kenyon and Middlebury; plus, we got an amazing financial aid package. Good luck to all of you who have yet to hear–you’re all beautiful humans no matter what happens!
@nmocha567 congrat!! what are your stats
@neutopschool thank you! I got a 34 on the ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.25 W GPA, top 10% of class… solid essays, recs, extracurriculars, summer activities, and leadership positions
I will say though that I think UR does a really good job of looking at applicants in their entirety. I don’t have any hooks and have plenty of weaknesses. So believe in yourself! Even if you’re feeling down about other schools like I was this morning.
@nmocha567 congrats!! What state are you in?
Does anyone know how this works for international students? Are we notified by mail also? Is that my country’s mail does not work properly, and I know that I won’t receive it for at least a month and a half…
@strictly56 where you able to figure out how it works for international students?
^ Last year they emailed decisions to international students. I assume that they will do the same, maybe Monday as the letters have already been sent to US kids?
@nmocha567 okay great! my stats and everything are in the 50% range but my Ec’s aren’t great because i work so much, hopefully they’ll see that!
@rockyc I’m from Virginia!
@neutopschool I think they’ll definitely understand that! Not participating in as many extracurriculars definitely make sense if you work a lot!
@nmocha567 Congratulations!! Can I ask you if this link works for you yet? https://bannerweb.richmond.edu/pls/cmgr/UGOnlineDeposit.home
Last year some students were able to know their admissions status beforehand based on whether they could pay the deposit or not. I’m wondering if they updated it yet to allow regular decision admits to pay their fee. Thanks in advance!
lol I’m too scared
@nmocha567 Congrats!!!
@neutopschool My D was accepted ED with very few EC’s so don’t worry.We feel the school really is holistic in its acceptances.
For those waiting who are curious: 29 ACT (they only superstore SAT), 1280 SAT, 750 SAT history subject test, 3.6 uw gps, 4.3 w gpa and 8 AP’s, mostly scored 5’s, a couple of 4’s. She wrote amazing spider essay. In the letter under “what we saw in you” they mentioned her outstanding writing ability. We think that did it. She is on a few clubs, founded 1, has volunteered at our aquarium for 3 yrs, no music, no sports.
@cloudysmom oh well, I sent both my ACTs, first time I messed up pretty badly on my science, kind of embarrassing because that’s what I wanted to go into.
@cloudysmom Congrats on your D’s acceptance!! Are the letters really customized? I thought they were just a standard message? If not, that’s so cool!
Thanks! They were standard except for a small, maybe 2 line paragraph called “what we saw in you”, it was very nice!
FYI Accepted student days are either 4/3, 4/10 or I think 4/25. I called admissions & they are the same program, 8/4, ends with ice cream party.
@neutopschool They will see all of it anyway. Don’t worry, you sound in a good spot to me, stay busy, it will be over soon!
@strictly56 unfortunately it didn’t work for me! Sorry! But best of luck to you
