For those that didn’t get in: don’t feel bad, UR was extremely competitive this year! Usually they have around 10k apps across all decision plans. This year they had 10k in just ED1&2 alone. You guys will still get into really great schools!
@rutroh You can verify this with an admissions officer, but I’m almost sure the housing deposit will still be requested at any university. However, if finances are an issue or enough need is demonstrated, they are more than willing to drop your deposit requirements.
Best of luck to you and remember to be proactive! This was a tough year, but hang tight and good luck with your other schools.
What if you still haven’t been notified by email of a decision?

International decisions will be released via email early this week!
S18 admitted with presidential. Probably still too costly compared with his other options, but he was still happy and excited.
D admitted, but talk about sticker shock!! Fafsa shows our efc at around $31,000, but I talked to the financial aid office this morning and the good ole css profile doubled that because of equity we have in our home and business. In hindsight, she shouldn’t have even considered css profile schools. We are not willing to take out home equity loans for her education. Still waiting on Emory, but if she gets in, I’m sure it will be the same situation. Luckily, she has some good state school options. I’m so completely frustrated.
international decision emails are out. go check them.
Waitlisted
wineindoubt@ we got a letter saying if we could find $70000 by May 1st we maybe admitted!!
Needless to say we have paid our deposit on another school today. Yippee!!!
@Whistlingal So are you saying you were admitted but received no aid whatsoever?
Yay! Acceptance in California! We are relieved. While son will need to consider all his options, I’m grateful he won’t be ashamed of rejection from big sister’s school.
@Whistlingal Is your child an international applicant by chance? I’m pretty sure some international prospects got that specific option last year as UR is need-aware for international students. From what I’ve seen, they seem to just pick and chose when it comes to those, because they apparently have a limited amount of aid for internationals.
Either way, though, congrats on the new school and best of luck!
@Whistlingal same here!! It’s like pay 70k and you’re in lol I’d rather take my full ride somewhere else thanks!!
@FirstTimeMom2022 S is an international and we were looking for about half. The email was not an admit in effect rather ‘if you can pay the $70000 before 1st May we will reconsider you for admission’. Richmond was his first choice ED but he got deferred. Another college came through with the money we wanted which included $12500 worth of a music scholarship. As he says ‘why wouldn’t he want to go there where they obviously appreciate the talents that he will bring to the establishment’. So last night paid the deposit and booked the flights!
Hi guineagirl96. Those are incredible stats! Where did you find them?
My son was one of the lucky ones ED1. Thanks!
I think I was supposed to include and @ in the previous comment. so…
@guineagirl96. Those are incredible stats! Where did you find them?
Thanks!
@Learningcurve101 I was told that by another student who works for the admissions office. But now that I think about it, that number probably isn’t correct, given that the admissions blog says they received over 11,800 applications total. Maybe that included early action? Or it may be wrong altogether. Sorry I can’t verify it.
My senior daughter sent me the admissions blog that said they received 18 percent more applications this year than last. I’m not sure how much that will effect their admission rate.
@guineagirl96 do you have any idea how many international transfer had applied this year to UR? And when they are going send out decisions for transfers?
really can’t understand why i was waitlisted… really bummed out
