@guineagirl96 - I called Admissions this morning and they said all have been notified. Perhaps the person I spoke with meant, all those who have been selected as semi-finalists “so far” have been notified.
@phoenixmomof2 I’ll default to you then. Seems a little early though. Perhaps they were reviewing the last couple applications when the comment on the blog was made.
What I do know is that if a student hasn’t been notified by early next week, then they weren’t selected.
Before I say anything else, please don’t take this question/comment as conceited, arrogant, etc. I am just a paranoid student in hopes of earning a scholarship…
I know that UR sends the notifications by e-mail. What if, by chance, it doesn’t send properly or you don’t receive it? Will it show up on BannerWeb as well?
I am not saying this as in I got the scholarship. More in the sense that I’m paranoid that if I did get notification but didn’t know it that i’ll have missed a great scholarship opportunity.
Again, not saying I deserve the scholarship or anything like that. Just want to make sure that I can abandon hope of the Richmond Scholarship without all the “what if’s”. thanks.
This is my first post. I have lurked for a while, but I felt compelled to chime in since I am anxiously awaiting news about the Richmond Scholar for my D. I called the admissions office this afternoon, and the woman told me that not everyone had been notified yet, that it would take “until the end of January,” so I guess there is some hope?
@vaboots - So funny. Guess it depends who you talk to.
I have just admitted I will not get it haha
Welp, there goes my hope of going to UR…
does anyone know when finalists will be notified?
@amanda19 Mid-February, last year they were notified over about a week starting around 2/15 (I received mine 2/19).
Can’t wait for the finalist notifications!!!
me neither, Though my Son is luke warm. He is hoping for some Big name schools to come through.
@Disneydad Which big name schools (only if you don’t mind) ?
@Cauldroncastle, Duke and Vanderbilt. (He applied to Harvard also but was deferred). He’s #1 in his class and I think there is some pressure on him to attend an “Ivy quality” school.
@Disneydad I can relate (just Dartmouth instead of Harvard, and I’m an international student). But Richmond seems like a very good fit to me.
It is official – all Richmond Scholars semi-finalists have been notified by email. So no email means not a semi-finalist. But apparently some who are not semi-finalists do still get merit scholarships.
Well, bummer.
My midyear transcripts won’t be available until friday next week. Is that too late to be admitted/selected as a finalist?
@annikumquat that’s absolutely fine. They don’t really use the midyear report for finalist selection per se, but they need it to release your decision. Last year, my midyear report was sent out around the same time yours will be. The day after it showed up on bannerweb as received, I got my finalist notification. The reason for this is with your finalist notification comes your acknowledgment of acceptance to the university, which they cannot do until your application is complete.
@guineagirl96 thank you!
will semifinalists who don’t advance be notified?
