University of Richmond Transfer Fall 2017 Thread

Hi everyone, thanks! I just called and she told me to send it along with no other comments. My first term GPA was a 3.89 so it just kinda reinforces it.

@cloudysmom Accept me? I think my application was pretty solid without it. Do you think that would be a deal breaker even though it wasnt a requirment? My first semester GPA was a 3.89, and I handled that with division 2 fall athletics, multiple clubs, an externship, and two solid essays.

@cloudysmom Also, the midterm report was a 4.0

@marvin11 I think what she means is that depending what type of applicant you are (we didn’t know before you posted stats), it would be a deciding factor in your admissions decision. Obviously you had a good first semester, but the committee just wants to see you’re keeping that up  Not only that but UR is still pretty competitive for transfer admissions. A lot of people with 3.8+ GPAs.

@rvalover7 Now I’m nervous that my mid-term report was so late. My school released midterm evaluations on friday (which are like weird as like they call an S1= A/A-, etc) and I had to hunt down my professors all this week to find them to get the actual grades

@marvin11 Its okay! I was sort of in the same boat. If they accept it then I think you’re fine. Its a good thing you called soon though! They were super nice when I called. Most colleges either get midterm grades this week or the week before, so its definitely not uncommon. Its just really good you called today because like I said earlier they typically release transfer decisions the week after RD and RD was last Friday!

@marvin11 It’s my understanding that midyear grades are required for all applicants, although the school understands some schools release them late, as UR seemed to be fine with it when you called them today. When My D applied to UR ED & others RD, they all said mid year grades were required. So I just meant that they might accept you, provided you follow up with sending the grades. Didn’t say they had to be amazing grades, you just have to send them. All students do.

@cloudysmom Richmond actually doesn’t require midyear grades surprisingly for transfer students. I asked that question when I went on my tour to admissions and they said that they will reach out to you if they would like to see them or you can submit them if you feel they would be helpful. There’s no requirement for them because typically by the time people get them in hand, decisions have already been made for the Fall

Oh, I forgot this was the transfer thread, not RD, sorry!

@cloudysmom Its okay!! I was actually surprised they didn’t require it myself haha.

wait!! i emailed and they told me midterm grades aren’t required so I didn’t submit them for my transfer app & they haven’t reached out to me, does that mean I should still be submitting it??

@shuan1011 you don’t have to. They just asked for mine. They told me when I went on a tour that if they wanted to see them they would contact you.

oh okay thank you @rvalover7 hopefully it’s not a bad thing they didn’t ask omg

@shuan1011 I wouldn’t be worried! I think they asked for mine because I transferred to a new school this semester  I was at a different one last semester! They probably wanted to see my work at this school. Also, if its anything like last year, decisions should be mailed out TODAY!!!

Good luck everyone, very exciting!!

@cloudysmom thank you, it sure is! I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts on the RD 2021 thread. Exciting to get our results back soon as well so we can all celebrate!

Do transfer admissions envelopes look the same as the RD ones?

@marvin11 I think so, not sure though.

Hi everyone, mail is coming soon here in RVA. Will let you guys know if I get anything. If they follow last year’s suit, they should have been sent out yesterday. However, I know they had an open house yesterday w/ admissions so perhaps they are pushing it back a week.

Hey everyone, I was wondering what the GPA’s of people were etc.?
How competitive is it for transfer students?
