@vorthas are you a transfer applicant? Its still competitive, just not as many applicants. Typically they get 300-350 applications and accept 150ish for 60 spots.
Nothing in the mail today! Don’t think they were mailed out yet.
oh thats very good to know, thank you @rvalover7 omg!! hopefully it comes soon!!! so exciting!
@shuan1011 Yeah no problem! They had an open house on Friday so they may have been focusing on that. Hopefully they’ll be sent out this Friday or before.
I know the waiting is murder, fingers crossed for tomorrow!
How do we know they’re going to follow the same pattern as last year? Would they even make an announcement saying they’re sending admissions decisions out?
@marvin11 no one knows. I just said maybe because that’s when they were last year. They typically don’t make an announcement for transfer. @cloudysmom they’ll probably send them out this Friday I hope :\
@vorthas My GPA is a 3.85, it appears to be quite competitive, but I have no idea where one can find stats on actual admitted transfer students. Hope these applications come in soon!
@Occiden its about a 50% acceptance rate for transfers. Typically 300 apps for 60 spots, they admit about 150. While there are not stats posted, its more about the whole application. Transfer students are nothing like first time freshmen. The GPAs here don’t matter as much as HS admissions. Everything is kind of equal. They equally value previous coursework, ECs, why you want to transfer, essays, and how your courses will transfer over to UR. (According to the UR website) Even if you have a great GPA, its a lot more about the other criteria vs. HS where they focus on your GPA and test scores mainly. I know someone who got in with a 2.6 GPA last year. So yeah, UR is competitive but its about the bigger picture for transfers.
ACCEPTANCE LETTER RECEIVED TODAY. FROM CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS
When was it postmarked?
I called admissions!! They had the wrong address on file for me omg. The lady said she thinks some decisions haven’t been sent out yet but shes not completely sure!
Just got my acceptance packet today. I live in California. Best day ever. Can’t wait to be a Spider!
@OrindaGirl was the letter like the RD ones in a big envelope?
@rvalover7 March 24th. Yes theyre in a big envelope. The postage was 2.66. It was white with a printed out label with your name on it. Does not look like the RD ones.
Thanks Marvin11. Yes. Large envelope with huge red and white lettering asking “Is this the Envelope You’ve Been Waiting For?” Best of Luck everyone!!
Waitlisted… so if anyone doesn’t wanna go please tell them soon. I’m honestly devastated. Second time around this happened. Don’t understand why.
@rvalover7 How are your midterm grades? If they’re pretty good send them in and accept the wait list. Good luck!
@rvalover7 They were already sent, 4.0. I was waitlisted in HS. Don’t really think I wanna go through it again. Bit of a sting as I was more than qualified. Honestly confused about this decision.
@rvalover7 I am so sorry, I have been pulling for you, hoping you got in. Please call them! This might still work out! Call & speak with the admissions transfer person & let them know you were WLed in HS, now again, ask what you can do, she or he will remember your conversation & it might help when they goes over the WL! If you don’t want to, at least ask why you weren’t admitted. My D was hysterical for days when she was denied at W&M, it helped her when we spoke with them, helped with closure & being able to move on. She was denied, she had no chance, you still do!
