University of Rochester Admissions Decision

Hey everyone. I was a sophomore transfer for the 2011-12 year. I have a quick question about UR's admission's letters.

I just received a letter from UR stating that I was rejected.
However, it also said "This decision may not be what you were expecting, but I would like to invite you to continue the application dialogue. At least one additional semester of college work is needed for revaluation."

Is this message in all of UR's rejection letters? Or is it a delayed admissions?

I was just wondering because most rejection letters just tend to say either try again next year or sorry you didn't get in. They don't ask for just one more semester.

If I do only need one semester more, this brings upon another question.
The UR deadline to apply for fall is 6/31. I applied in late March and at the time I just started spring quarter, which doesn't end until 6/14. Therefore, can I send in my spring grades at the end of the quarter and count that as the required semester? I am transferring from the University of California, Riverside and we're on a quarter system.

Please and Thank You. :)

What you received is a very polite rejection. It is not an offer of delayed admission. It is not an offer of conditional acceptance. It’s a rejection.

What that phrase is saying is that if you want to reapply to UR, you must have additional college coursework to show admissions. (Probably because your current academic record isn’t strong enough to gain admission.)

If you have questions about why you were rejected and what you need to do to improve your chances at a transferring, please contact the transfer admissions office who handled your file and talk with him/her.
