@AdelsKing@ProfessorSnape thanks a lot. I did really want to get in so I’m a little disappointed. I thought my essay was pretty good as well. In retrospect, it was probably because I applied for financial aid. (Rochester has a need aware policy for international students which is totally understandable.)
To all those who got accepted, congratulations! and to those still waiting, good luck!
@upsidownn an ex-classmate of mine got rejected with a 34 ACT and a 3.8 GPA. He too thinks it’s because he asked for a lot of aid and was international. He got Berkeley Regents so he doesn’t care now haha
@joshualu98 nope, they said on tumblr that people who got deffered last year stand a 0.5% chance. But I called my counselor 2 days ago he told me that he is struck with this information, and said they accept 20 percent of people who got deffered from ED.
@Meshmesha I saw that on Tumblr too and I think that was a misunderstanding. I think the 0.5% chance was actually about coming off the waitlist. I don’t know that for sure - but that’s my guess. I’ve never heard of a school providing a stat for how many go from deferred to accepted.

I had two pretty incredible recommendations letters, I did an alumni interview which went okay I don’t think it was a make or break, I had a really personal and well written personal statement and I think that’s what got me accepted!
^ prolly not, usually we wait 5 business days for merit aid/regular aid notification; though it might come in our acceptance letter in the mail, who knows?
My S is dying to hear now. As I mentioned earlier he applied DDE and had a verbal acceptance from Eastman but no decision from UR. Well, the official offer came through last night from Eastman and he was offered a couple of merit awards. I hope after all this he gets accepted to UR as well to pursue the dual degree.
