Wow. I keep coming back to this thread just to see what you guys are saying. To all those that got accepted, congratulations! And those who got rejected, I think youre very interesting individuals and rejections and deferrals shouldn’t change that. Good luck to everyone waiting just like me.
@Meshmesha only 20 percent! That’s not that much oh my god… I have a question: did you have much contact with the admissions office after deferral?
its monday already but still nothing Has anybody heard from UoR? or do you know when will there be decision released ?
For the past couple weeks all decisions have been released near the end of the week between 3 and 5pm or thereabouts. If the pattern holds we shouldn’t be holding our breath for anything today or at the very least not until this afternoon though I really hope that they break tradition and just release already!
@WAITINGSOUL Got ours this morning…think my S will be committing!!!
When state schools with 50,000+ applicants get back to you before UofR which gets a fraction of the amount of applicants…
Are there still a lot of people waiting for decisions?
My D is still waiting…
My daughter is still waiting too. Applied early December.
That’s really unfortunate, I applied the day before the deadline and was given a decision in the first batch. Is this luck, or are the stronger apps given decisions sooner. (I don’t say this to be boastful, but I assume that a deans scholarship recipient is considered a stronger app, and I saw many others posting about deans scholarships), in fact, I don’t remember a rejection post, where they all admits? fill me in.
There have been three batches…two seemed to be only rejections and waitlists, the other was a mix.
Many people are still waiting for decisions and UR will continue releasing until April 1. I don’t think those who got accepted already necessarily had “stronger” apps than those still waiting but it’s likely just dependent on the order in which they were read and deliberated on. Perhaps your first two readers had lighter loads or read faster than others so you were near the top of the pile for committee or something like that. Similarly, I don’t think merit scholarships or even deans scholarships as you mentioned are limited to the first batch but instead UR gives merit aid to qualified students regardless of what batch they were in so I would hesitate to say that those in the first batch were the strongest in this years applicant pool though of course I’m just an applicant too so I don’t really know. Some may well be incredibly strong candidates and clear admits so for in in the first batch because the decisions was so obvious. We’ll have to wait for the next round of acceptances to compare profiles and merit awards before we can say for sure though if there was any correlation between applicant strength and which batch they were in.
@thisgirlcodes wow u were an applicant? thought you were a parent of an applicant or sth… very eloquently worded speculation there.
@WAITINGSOUL Wow thanks! I’m glad my obsession makes for good writing at least lol glad to know I don’t sound totally insane with the amount of speculating I’ve been doing these last couple days.
Hey guys. I have an update I’d like to make to my application. A major promotion at work. Is it too late to send it in? Will it change anything?
From previous years or from what you’ve heard, does it change anything?
@Jujuondatbeat I say send it! Even if a decision on your app has been made already it can’t hurt to try. Worst case scenario, it doesn’t affect the outcome at all but best case it could help build your case for admission. We don’t know what exactly made an admissions committee vote to accept or reject any given candidate but an update with wonderful news especially if you present it well can only be helpful and adds a valuable dimension to your application.
We are still waiting and applied before Dec. 1. My son has been on Step 4 for weeks and weeks. Hoping to hear sooner as opposed to later!
Hey guys!
Is ur need based fa released only when u accept the offee for admission and make a deposit?
my son rejected
