@rlyoutofit I got a personalized letter. It referenced my “unique story” of which I won’t go into detail here. I was honestly quite flattered that they took the time to mention it though.
Does URoc even give need based aid to international students? (non canadian/mexican)
Accepted!
I logged onto my portal using my mobile phone, and my letter just popped up without warning hahaha. But I couldn’t scroll through my letter at all and all I could read was “welcome to University of Rochester’s 166th class”. Now I don’t know where to find my decision letter at the portal x____x
Edit: never mind, I logged in again and figured how to scroll love their personalized acceptance letter!
My D is still on step 4. Is anyone else still on step 4?
*here to cheer on @WaywardVagabond *
Oh @Grapess, thank you so much!
@usualhopeful So did you get the 21,850 estimate from Roch’s website calculator? Because my EFC is only 8k but I feel like the Roch calculator would tell me something a lot higher.
@pennstd no, I am an Indian citizen, but then what did they mean when they said that admission for international students is need-aware?
Guys, I have a major question. So, I have also been accepted into UofR but there is no info about financial aid in MyRoc account. I was wondering if that means i couldn’t get any aid or will they notify us later? I filled out the CSS & applied for financial aid so, I feel like if they accepted me they will eventually provide me with the aid package i need to attend. Am I wrong?
@dpasa86 Yes, financial aid information comes a few days after your acceptance letter.
Good luck and congratulations for getting in!
Friends, I got in! Hopefully the financial aid offer will be good. I can finally remove this thread from my bookmarks :)) Good luck to everyone else and congrats to those who got accepted as well!
Also I got a 1850 on the SAT, probably predicted a 37-39 for IB, handed in an unpolished personal statement (in my opinion, but I’m also obsessive with my writing). I submitted both a supplemental essay (the ever-cooler thing) and writing (a poem with a background). I sent a peer recommendation from my co-leader for a service activity and a recommendation from the head of an organization that sent me to an international school. My interview also went well and I do think that my extracurriculars helped too
All in all, I just think that the way the admissions team at URoch works is great because they were able to look past my mediocre SAT score and my so-so IB grades. ANYTHING IS INDEED POSSIBLE. God I love this school.
Accepted to both UofR and ESM!!!
Hi folks, I was accepted yesterday (yay!). If you got a merit scholarship would it be in your initial online acceptance letter or does it come in the mail? Because I’m not seeing anything on the acceptance letter online
@crazymonkey444 The merit awards come later. Look for an email in a few days.
@imansoor14 @AdityaChat This is taken directly from their website (http://enrollment.rochester.edu/financial-aid/international):
“The University of Rochester offers need-based financial aid to undergraduate students who are Mexican or Canadian citizens.”
In the section of other countries: "The responsibility for covering educational expenses (e.g. tuition, fees, room and board) rests with the student and his or her family. International students must submit proof of their family’s ability to cover the estimated cost of the first year’s educational expenses, as well as projected support for subsequent years of study at Rochester.
"Every applicant for admission earns consideration for merit scholarships. Admitted international students who receive any merit scholarship need only demonstrate the ability to pay for the remaining educational expenses. "
Yes, same here.
Guys, any renaissance and global finalist here? when will we hear the final decision regarding the scholars? :")
@PollyC Thank you!
guys i got accepted today! however, there was no mention of financial aid on my letter…do they release it later or does this mean that I won’t be offered one? i am an international applicant so there is no way i would be able to attend rochester without an aid
