University of Rochester

My friend is applying to the engineering school at the University of Rochester. I heard that their engineering schools are pretty good. But just in case, can someone tell something that you dont like about it? Such as, hard to find a job, lack of reputation, etc. Anything is fine! Thanks!

The U of R is a very selective school with a great reputation- in the top 50 engineering schools in the US. with a smaller number of students than many other schools. It gets a lot of grant $$ for Biomedical research, a lot of the faculty have terminal degrees and the kids I know of who graduated from there have had no problem landing jobs or getting into top grad schools- that is also because they had excellent grades.
Of course, it also depends upon the type of engineering program that you want to pursue. Do some Internet research and you’ll find a lot of info.

@jkeil911 I do have a friend from home who is actually considering applying to U of R. I told her how I felt about it in the way I can and I have experienced, but since I am just I freshman I am posting on this forum hoping that someone else who has been studying in U of R for a longer time to answer her question! Let me know if you have anymore questions?

Have you decided on which school to leave U of R for yet?

I think Pauline1995’s problem with the school has mostly to do with the fact that the music school is very separate from the rest of the campus. And it is cold. My daughter recently told me she wants it cool to cold all year round, to the point I am running monthly weather charts of different locations to see just what she is thinking. From the way she is talking, she would love the Rochester weather!
