University of San Diego 2023

@CollegeAhead: First wait until you get your complete FA package before asking them to review your financial aid award. If your parents income situation has changed, yes you can ask them to look over your FA. Remember each school determines what that they consider your need, not you so show them any corrections/mistakes or changes that have occurred.

D accepted and invited to apply to Honors College. She also received the $25,000 a year Alcala Scholarship. Her stats are 3.85 UW/4.25W, 33 ACT, lots of ecs and leadership, athlete, and worked part time for the last 2 years. Good luck to those still waiting.

Still no updates on the portal. Was there an email sent to admitted applicants?

@shahk3949 My son is a Finance/Business major has 3.6 UW gpa and 4.05 W gps with 1420 SAT was admitted yesterday and given $18,000 Presidential Scholarship. Hope this helps. It looks like you are close in stats. Just know decisions are rolling so just hang tight. With your extracurriculars added, you’ll probable get in.

D got accepted in Finance Major. She also received the $25,000 a year Alcala Scholarship. Stats 4.0 UW GPA, 4.9 W GPA and 33 ACT.

My daughter was accepted today. In state GPA 4.0 /4.17 SAT 1180. No info for scholarships. Good luck everyone !

Still waiting in SoCal with a 3.85/4 UW and a 4.3/4 W, 31 ACT single sitting. Good LOR’s and EC’s, visited for Torero Day earlier this year. I should be able to get in but who knows. Would like to know sooner rather than later.

@vividlife About 5 of my daughter’s friends were accepted via the portal today. 2 students accepted with not super high stats. My daughter and her friend are still waiting

Yes. I received an email that redirected me to a welcome video. Afterwards I logged into my portal and saw I was admitted there as well.

@kitty72 Two students that were accepted today from my daughter’s school did not have super high stats and 3 others accepted also, but with high stats
I thought it sounded like only high stats were coming out today, but the 2 with lower stats blew that theory!

Accepted, Stats: 3.83 UW/4.21 W, Top 10%, 1460 SAT (670 R, 790 M) Good ECs, Essays, Letter of Recs, from Pennsylvania.

@Burrowsc did you get any kind of merit award?

Do the merit awards tell you what GPA must be

What GPA must be to renew scholarship?

@collegemomjam Nah

@Burrowsc thank you. I just checked again and it’s still in review but good to know a cross section of students are getting answers.

My daughter is a freshman. Her merit scholarship is very clear that you need a 3.0 to continue merit. It sounds like it would disappear immediately for the next semester but be reinstated if it went back to 3.0+ GPA in following semesters. Hope we never have to find out!

Just got accepted :). 1500 SAT, 4.3ish W GPA
It says that I got the Alcalca Scholarship, but I’m not able to find much info about it on the USD website.
Edit: I’m looking at the financial aid overview and I see that it says that the cost of attendance is $.00. I am assuming that this will be updated at a later time.

Anyone else’s scholarship go away on financial aid portal?

My son got accepted (yay!) a few days ago and received the Trustee Scholarship. But not offered Honors though he has a 4.0/4.3 GPA 1580 SAT and 36 ACT. So we are hoping “the letter” (they refer to) will have an offer for Honors in there. Also our EFC is 0 so also waiting to see if he will get Need Based Aid to cover the rest of the costs. Very much like USD if he can get into Honors.
