University of San Diego EA Applicants

I got accepted as well, I was going through my junk folder tonight and found the email, I am really excited to get my package

When will merit aid be offered? Is it in the packet? Was there a separate application for scholarships or honors college?

Those of you who got e-mails, did you apply early decision or early action?

I applied early action. logged on to my.sandiego and it told me I’d been accepted. :)

idinct, because USD’s scholarships/grants are based off of the fasfa, i don’t think we get notice of them until march :/

Are they all based off the fafsa? I thought there were some that were not? I have to check again, I can’t keep track.

How does USD compare with Santa Clara U? Maybe a Californian can answer.

DD accepted to both schools. Decision depends on merit-aid and other results.

Both schools are comparable in fees and quality of education. DD’s major is business, and the BW ranking is 20s to 30s for both schools the last few years.

Can’t beat the locations for both and especially USD campus if you like traditional buildings. Feel like you are vacationing in Europe, not necessary good for college students studying IMHO.

Have to visit the campus before making decision.

Where on your my.sandiego does it state your admission decision?

Thanks, Keepchow. D visited both schools over summer and loved both. Can’t revisit because D out of country til after decision. Accepted to USD, deferred SCU which she was possibly leaning toward. She’ll try RD. How does friendliness compare on both campuses? Would like to hear campus perceptions from alum, students or locals since we’re from a different world (midwest). Comments anyone?

USD has a really good reputation in San Diego, especially in Business and Law. If I didn’t live in SD, it would for sure be my number 1 choice. I’m an EA applicant and still havent heard yet.

Thanks halopower015. What a fun town you get to live in! D’s major undecided but several of interest at USD.
Good luck to you as you wait. Does anyone know how USD admits for EA, i.e., all letters sent on same day like SCU, or rolling until end of January? One poster called and asked SCU. You could do the same.

I’m a Californian from Sacramento, which is perhaps an hour from SCU. I applied and have been accepted to USD and SCU, and I would say that SCU is a bit more urban. In terms of campus appearance, both are mission revival and very beautiful. They are probably comparable academically, with the edge perhaps going to SCU, but that is subjective. USD is, from the perspective of a californian high school boy’s point of view, know for being predominantly female, with a very skewed ratio of girls to boys.
Although both are costal schools, it’s worth noting that SD weather is beautiful and Bay Area weather is foggy, if that makes any difference. Both schools have decent basketball teams. The people at both schools were great, in my opinion.
I go to an all male catholic school, so i cant speak for your daughter, but everyone who goes to either school from my HS each year love their choice, and we send maybe 4 or 5 kids to each school each year. Hope that helps! If you want my half way local opinion on anything else, let me know lol.

Thanks wake266. Very helpful comments. At this point, have to wait on SCU RD to consider anyway.

Accepted to USD EA, and received my packet today. Awarded the Presidential Scholar scholarship, so to those wondering, the merit scholarships do indeed come with the acceptance packets.

Gees, they notified me last Thursday and I STILL haven’t gotten my packet yet!

Well, as my username suggests, I live in California. When you receive the packet probably depends on where you live.

I just got my acceptance package a couple of days ago. It included something that said merit-based scholarships are sent after the initial admission decision, so if you don’t receive anything with your package (like me) there is still hope.

Hey everyone, and congrats to those already admitted!! I applied EA early November and am yet to hear back yet…anyone else in the same situation? Thanks!

OhioStateFan-
I sent my application in early October and am still waiting for an admissions decision…
