University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Take a look here: Scholarships - Financial Aid and Scholarships | University of South Carolina

Based on what I saw, with a 3.9W, I suspect your DD is in the running.

Last year UofSC started emailing about merit awards on Monday, March 8th. (I checked the old thread.) So perhaps weā€™ll hear soon? Although maybe theyā€™ll wait until next Monday? Ugh. Losing patience by the minute.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but would they be emailing the email address that has been used throughout the application process, or do they use a UofSC email? Tennessee makes everyone switch to their UTK email address for all correspondence once accepted.

not a dumb question at all! they will use the email address used throughout the application process.

Iā€™m hoping for this Friday, but prepared for next week.

Iā€™m hoping for tonight! Last year it was March 8 around 9:30 PM. But Iā€™m mentally preparing for Friday.

Thanks - we are hopeful. Just not sure how TO factors in. Hopefully weā€™ll know soon enough.

Curious if all who were waitlisted could please keep me posted. My son applied EA to the business school, was deferred then waitlisted. SC is his #1 choice and he is not excited about the other schools he was accepted at, so Iā€™m worriedā€¦ very worried! He emailed the recruiter for our state with a letter of continued interest. I really donā€™t think we can wait until 5/15. My nerves are shot!

@Cmp18 Good luck to you and your son! This process is so hard on all involved.

Is there a school that is his 2nd choice? I know several kids who committed by the 5/1 date (to a school that was not their top choice) and then ended up hearing back later in May they got off of the waitlistā€¦ They lost the deposit, but it was better than not having a slot for the fall somewhereā€¦ Good luck!

Several kids off of the waitlist at U of SC?! My daughter is waitlisted so Iā€™m holding out some hope.

If youā€™re on the WL, stay hopeful! Daughter is declining her USC acceptance as she just received admission to her #1. Good luck to everyone!

i havenā€™t heard anything back in regards to getting off of the waitlistā€¦ do you know how they notify you, if you do get off of the waitlist ?

Congrats may I ask where she has chosen?

Yes he was accepted to 3 other schools and is choosing between two of them and yes we will put a deposit down on the one he chooses. But heā€™s not thrilled about these other schools. The wait is soooo hard!

Has anyone heard if they are a Capstone Scholar yet?

I believe Capstone Scholar invitations are sent with the Merit offers

Yes it is! Especially since ā€œearly actionā€ makes you think youā€™ll have a decision earlier than if you had done RD. Another school my son applied to gave 2 dates for EA responses. They did not notify my son on either one and then days later, he was in a pool of deferred applicants. Hit refresh on his portal for an entire day in Dec only to have to do it again 6 weeks later. And after all that should have a decision 2 months after thatā€¦ Iā€™m (attempting) to use this as a teachable moment that as much as YOU want something and have a sense of urgency, ultimately, it is completely out of your control.

So true! It is really frustrating! He had all his ducks in a row applying to 10 schools by mid-October and here we are, thinking heā€™d know his ā€œfateā€ by Christmas. Not at all what we were expecting. Yes it is a teachable moment, for sure. My daughter will be a senior next year and at least weā€™re prepared when itā€™s her turn.
