University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Son just got this email:

Thank you for applying to the University of South Carolina. We will begin releasing Early Action decisions late Monday afternoon, December 13. You will receive an email advising you to check your status on your [UofSC Admissions Portal] when your decision is released.

Does anyone know what competitive stats you need to get EA on 12/13?

The email we received says competitive applicants only get in. Do you know what their definition of competitive is? Just trying to get an idea of what stats they are looking for in this wave of admissions.

I think most schools use that term ā€œcompetitiveā€ as a way to create a desired school. But thats just my opinion.
My daughter went in test optional. She had a 3.7 unweighted and 4.7 weighted GPA. Lots of clubs and leaderships, not a ton of AP or Honors (but a few) She got accepted on Dec. 16th. Many friends she knew got deferred who submitted test scores but all eventually got in.

Thatā€™s really good to know. My son is about where your daughter was. He did submit his scores b.c they are above their avg range but not by much. I didnā€™t know if they are only accepting students who truly have a shot at the honors college since all of those applications had to be for EA too.

Mine did not get into Honors or Capstone. Its all good. Shes extremely involved and busy for her freshman year!

My son fully expects a deferral; I encourage all not to be too concerned if that is the outcome.

If deferred, do they roll out all acceptances on a specific date or over time? Do you know?

We are expecting a deferral, too.

I think believe it was all on one day the year my son got deffered. That was 2019 for 2020 HS graduates.

My daughter is OOS 3.77 UW, rigorous high school, great ECā€™s, but I donā€™t think she impressed on her essay. Fingers crossed thoughā€¦thereā€™s always hope. Expect deferral. Good luck to all!

This is one of two schools D22 submitted scores, so eager to see if that was a good or bad idea!

My daughter was deferred two years ago. (Dec 15th was the date) but was accepted 3 weeks later into the Darla Moore business school and absolutely loves it! After she was deferred, she had emailed our regional rep. The local admissions rep said being deferred the first time around is totally common. They get so many applicants a year that itā€™s hard to go through all applications with a mid December decision for everyone.

I think my daughter is expecting a deferral as well, which will be the second in a row; however she already has 3 acceptances one of which is to a top choice so hopefully she wonā€™t be to disappointed. After this one, she will be waiting on 2 more which wonā€™t come until the end of January and mid February.
