@TXDad56 My daughter was admitted to COLA Psychology at 7pm last night. She did not apply to Honors or Planll etc. She is instate non auto and applied on 9/15. Stats: ACT29, GPA 3.98, top 25% at a small private high school. started with 2 AP classes and 2 Honors Junior Year. Took Psychology junior year and AP Psychology Senior year. Varsity sports, Choir, Student Council, part time job, a tremendous amount of community service with some service related to major. Strong resume, essay and short answers all circling back to major. Rec letters from school, job and one from the psych field. We have not been very active on posting but we have read your posts and you have kept us grounded and hopeful. @grlgotexas Would that include regular decision applicants as well?
The 17,000 acceptances includes priority and regular decisions. I am hoping they have about 4000 decisions left to deliver, but I am worried because of what the counselor said. However, I don’t think anyone really knows, as UT’s process is a mystery! Ugh-their process is so frustrating!! I still have one kiddo in high school and have to go through the process one more time! 
Has anyone been accepted into chemical engineering? I have only seen other engineering majors posted.

I am getting increasingly stressed for my son. Have many students heard about economics major? He is in-state, not auto admit from a top TX HS, 4.3 GPA, high scores and many extra curricullars and awards, and about 10 AP classes. I “think” good essays. When people say strong or good essays, how do they know that? I have always wondered! Congrats to all who have heard and good luck to the others in our shoes! Stressful!
I know, I giggle to myself every time someone says their kids’ essays are great or they know someone who got in because of great essays or recommendations! What we think is great, the admissions counselor may think is terrible. Colleges are also aware that parents or consultants heavily edit/write essays for their kiddos. I think colleges look for authentic essays, though I am sure this is getting extremely difficult. No one knows if their child’s essay will be good or not because it is subjective to whomever is reading the file. Silly!
Hi all. I saw some people get admitted into Nursing last night, but i have not heard anything and mine is still in review. Do you guys think i got rejected or put into CAP? I’ve heard they release rejections on feb 1

@GoinCray19 Thank you for posting your DDs stats. My DD has similar ECs with essays connecting them to her Psych major as well. Sadly her GPA is 3.78 with 1240/26 test scores. We know UT is very much a reach. We are happy that she has gotten into 5 of 5 other schools she’s applied to but they’re not the ones that I’d prefer her to go to, or can afford. She has a better chance for A&M and that too would be fantastic, but with our son already at UT… Thank you for the kind words. It’s time for me to listen to them myself as we get nearer to the final outcome. Congrats to you and your DD. I hope she decides on UT. It’s a great school and a wonderful college experience. I was worried UT would be a reach, as it is very hard for OOS students like me, so im really glad i got in.
@ohiokid22 I sure am hoping there’s another release today, but honestly, I’ve never heard of one on Saturday. There’s always a first. Regardless, there will still be more. The Feb 1st deadline is for those who got their applications in by Nov 1st. Regular decisions still come out now too and then into February as well. I can’t remember when rejections come out but I’m hoping that is not until March. (Trying not to think about that…)
@aggiekak This was the week my LHS got into ECON, 3 years ago. Non AA, IS, 4.2 GPA 1290/30. I thought his essays were weak to be honest. Since his UT freshman year, his writing skills are beyond my expectations. They are miracle workers there. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll hear before the end of the month.
