@scottaay16 I applied as Journalism too (I’m in-state but not auto-admit) and I haven’t heard of a single person get in for that major yet. Also, I applied at the same time as you… maybe we’ll find out the same day??
I know I asked this before, but do y’all know if rejections go out at the same time as acceptances or do they send them out at the very end? I’m nervous because I heard that a lot of nursing majors already got in.
They are usually the last to be notified. Many in state students will be offered the CAP program. When my daughter applied three years ago all of the final decisions regarding acceptance, CAP and denials came out on the same night. Many students were notified of acceptance that night. My son is in the same situation, checking status several times each day. It was mid February three years ago when all of the remaining decisions were released.
@txsluv Finally! Someone else for T&A! I’m waiting impatiently too as a non-auto admit.
Our college counselor said that every year is a bit different at UT, but the constant is not to read too much into others have heard. Good luck to everyone!
Anyone been capped yet?
what does “capped” mean?
Spoke to admissions today who confirmed they are shooting for March 1st. They had over 40k applicants and have only sent out 3700 acceptances so far.
@momof5tx Thanks! Waiting is so hard!
The 3700 acceptances can not possibly include the auto admits. Last year they admitted 15,381 students 75% being auto admits or 11,535 these people have already been informed of their admission. Which leaves 3846 open spots. If 3700 of those have already gone out it does not leave many spots available. Here is the link for last years admissions:

I may be wrong but that’s what it looks like to me. I hope I am wrong because its not looking good for my son.
I agree with you and don’t really know if that number included the auto admits. Meaning 3700 have been notified of admission decision whether it be admitted or you’re an auto admit and we’re accepting you to the …school. I would assume it does.
@kcsprop1 I interpreted it as 3700 people have been accepted into their majors. From what I’ve seen, a lot of auto admits haven’t learned what major they got accepted into. Those 3700 could be from the pool of auto admits or the pool of non auto admits. (If that made any sense)
Another possibility is that I’m completely wrong because I largely have no idea what I’m talking about
The law states that they have to have enough auto admits to fill 75% of their freshman class. I guess it would depend on the percentage of auto admits that actually enroll. That’s the number that is not on the link. If 75% of the auto admits enroll that would make only 7,287 auto admits leaving 8094 available slots. That sounds more like it.
Very confusing, I know.
@girlfromworld1 I was wondering that too! UT is my dream school, so I’m so anxious from watching other people get in. I just want to know. What are your stats if you don’t mind sharing?
@calspeed Cap is offered to some of the non auto admits who don’t get in(you must live in the great state of Texas). They get to choose a system school(utsa, uta, utt, etc) to go to for 1 year. If you meet the requirements for cap(30 hrs and a 3.2), you automatically get transfered to UT for your second year.
@alynicole803 Don’t mind at all
GPA: 3.7 unweighted
SAT: 2080 (one sitting)
My essays were pretty good/decent and I’ve done over 400 hours of community service and hold a few leadership positions (Cultural Awareness Club leader, Honor Committee representative, Peer Leader, Basketball Captain, etc.)
My school doesn’t rank so that might be a big negative against me
Anyone unranked who applied to CNS-computer science get in yet?
How many people heard from McCombs today? Mine is still in review (First choice McCombs, second choice UGS)
@calspeed because of some combination of 1) the auto admit feature that automatically admits top 7% class ranked students from any high TX school regardless of the school’s academic rigor and 2) Austin being such a fun town the freshman retention rate is comparably lower for a school as good as UT. The CAP and PACE programs serve as a ready transfer pool to fill in the freshman that don’t successfully transition to sophomore year.
My son is still “in review,” with McCombs as his first choice.
