University of Texas--Austin Admissions

I don’t think the issue is whether students “feel bad about themselves.” The issue is making it extra stressful for people because they could get a decision any day between Dec. 15 and March 1. I don’t know that anybody’s going to be lost to an ivy league school, considering those places don’t decide until around April 1. Maybe they’re trying to avoid losing top students to A&M and the like.

My son got accepted this evening sometime after 6:00 p.m. to the Environmental Science geography track in the college of liberal arts. He was an auto-admit who applied in September with a #1 class rank and a 2160 SAT. No idea why it took so long!

@bonnie97 The banner shows “congratulations” immediately at the top of the page, where it usually says “your freshman application is in review.”

@bonnie97 @ayyemichelle‌ I called yesterday and he said thursday night! I am out of state student (I don’t know if that makes any difference)

@collegefind‌ … Congrats ! Now hopefully your kid gets results for planning II by mid next week . Best wishes.

Thanks @TinTintoo, hope so!

@BellaBean2 I thought we were only supposed to find out on Fridays (I’m out of state as well)

Hoping my D gets an acceptance. I’m ready to pay the deposit and enjoy the rest of her senior year. We’re OOS so even more anxious.

@jennie11 Same here…OSS too!. Just want to enjoy the rest of her senior year - graduation is May 22nd.

@vs1997 i actually did not submit an SAT score-- just ACT (28 composite). granted, the average for COFA students is around 26, so it really depends on what your first and (possibly) second choice majors are. i also submitted a special circumstance essay, though, which most likely made a big difference.

Anyone got into Cockrell yet?

Could anyone else verify the Thursday night claims?

Yeah this is getting really confusing

Indeed! I did apply to the Engineering Honors Program as well. Yet, on the MyStatus page, it still lists “Physics” as my selected major. Thus, the reason for my confusion. Do they evaluate the honors applications simultaneously with the overall university admissions program, or only after you are accepted tot he school?

If they accept you to the school first, then I must have been accepted to the University. Otherwise they wouldn’t be evaluating ANY honors application.

If they evaluate your honors app at the same time as the regular admissions, then they should really change their practices and save themselves some time.

Thank you!

Also… has anyone else investigated the “Thursday Night Claim?” (I think we can give it an official title. )

Hopefully by Friday our decision is made…

Can anyone provide me the number of the admissions office at UT Austin. Pm it to me please

So do we think the Thursday Night Claim will be at 5?

@shubhamchamaria - just look it up dude
