yup, guess we are going to have to wait. i saw on the facebook group today how someone called the admissions office, and they said admissions will be released only feb.15 to march 1st. there may be some before just to make sure the system is running smoothly.
@girlfromworld1
@3anddone
Same here
My son is still in review as well.
its going to be later. not this week at least.
So what’s everyone’s back up plan if they don’t get into UT?
purdue, umass, penn state or ohio state
@machovich I’ve only found out about Arizona, but I’m waiting on University of Washington, UNC Chapel Hill, Penn State, UMichigan, and University of Illinois at Chicago although I haven’t applied just yet to the last two :-"
My S has been accepted to Baylor. Waiting on SMU, TCU, and Rice. Also considering CAP if offered, this is a good alternative which most applicants who are not accepted get offered. A year at another UT school taking the same courses in exchange for guaranteed admission with only a 3.2 GPA is not bad. My oldest got CAP in 20012 despite having a 3.8 GPA, top quarter and 30 ACT. She went to a great east coast school for a year then transferred to UT where she is doing great and planning on going to med school. In hindsight she thinks CAP would have been fine. It would have saved me a lot of money. Don’t rule this out right away if you don’t get full admission, a year is nothing. If you want to go to UT, I think you will be glad you did it.
Anyone from petroleum engineering heard anything? I wish I knew it was rolling admissions before I applied, I would have submitted my app sooner, but I wanted to make sure everything was perfect.
@magathar Been lurking this thread for a while and finally saw a petroleum engineering comment. I also applied to the undergraduate Petroleum Engineering major, but have not heard anything back.
My friend was accepted into UT Austin today as a political major!
@jomarch in-state? Or OOS ?
@jomarch that’s hard to believe. they don’t release admissions for once person at a time. your friend may’ve been accepted a while back, but got their letter just yesterday
@PCMguy She’s in-state
@vs1997 My friend isn’t in the 7% and she got an email acceptance letter on Friday at around 4:30. Other kids in a neighboring area were accepted too.
hmm that’s strange. the admissions office said they wouldn’t be do any more until like end of jan. or possible mid february.
I thought they only make the change in your status online and then snail mail
the letter. I don’t think my son received anything via email but he was admitted in October. Perhaps they are doing things differently now?
I’m currently a CAP student at UT Arlington. To those considering the CAP program for admission to UT, keep in mind there is a guaranteed admission to majors in the Liberal Arts college as well as the Undergraduate Studies only. If you plan to major in something outside of these majors, you’ll have to compete with other external transfers, although UT gives preference to in-state residents. Secondly, if you plan to major in engineering / business / natural sciences, TAKE THE RECOMMENDED COURSES. Cockrell/McCombs won’t even consider you if you don’t have Calculus 1 and 2 completed, as well as Engineering Physics for Cockrell and Macro/Micro for McCombs. Also, if you choose UT Arlington to do the CAP program, don’t listen to the advisors when they tell you Calculus I has a high failing rate. I took it this fall and it was a complete cakewalk. The high failing rate is because literally half of the class has never been introduced to Calculus before. If you have them, claim AP/Dual Enrollment credits so you can take higher level courses. Finally, don’t take CAP lightly. I’ve seen too many other CAP students who blow off their classes because they’re okay with doing the bare minimum, and it’ll hurt them when they get UT Austin (if they even do). Good luck.
P.S. - Here’s the list of transferable courses, in case you’re set on doing CAP already and want to plan early. http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/cap/2014-2015/
The wait is killing me. My app has been completed since Sept 23, hoping the decision comes soon…
@Mayosauce @vs1997 @Machovich @jomarch International applicant here…applied on 29th of November…When should I expect the decisions? And am I competitive?

Does anyone know of anyone getting into the college of education? I applied mid October and my application is still in review and I have only seen one acceptance on twitter under the UT19 hashtag for a major in kinesiology. The major I applied for was applied learning and generalist certification.

I am an in state student and I go to a pretty competitive high school in a wealthy suburb surrounding one of the larger cities in Texas.
If you wouldn’t mind looking over my stats and letting me know if I have a chance or not, I would be very thankful.
