University of the Sciences in Philadelphia

What can you guys tell me about the school?

Any feedback is welcomed.

Thank you.

Anyone have anything?

Thanks.

I'm going to unfortunately start with another question, which maybe others can answer as a help to you- did this school used to be called Philadelphia Pharmacy? I ask because it seems to really emphasize pharmacy majors, and otherwise seems strange because its other academic offerings, even in the sciences, don't seem particularly comprehensive. Anyway, Spartan, I've read other posters in different threads saying they were thinking of applying there, so maybe they'll come across your thread and be able to tell you more.

Yes, this place was the Pharmacy school until a name change a few years ago. Today it still has a highly regarded pharmacy program, but the school has a broader science program as well. Reportedly it's a "weed out" school in that admission is not terribly difficult but graduating takes a lot of work as the academics are quite rigorous. There are some liberals arts and Humanities courses in the curriculum and the school has a competitive D-II sports department, so it's not all work and no play. Also, there's been new construction on campus to enhance residential student life

I met the Dean of Admissions at a forum in 2005 and liked what he had to say.

Thank you very much.

I got accepted two days ago and I was just wondering what others knew or had to say about the school.

The school has a history of preeminence in the field of pharmacy:

With nearly two centuries of experience in pharmacy and science and thousands of alumni working in the pharmaceutical industry, the world turns to PCP graduates for advice. Learn where the founders (alumni such as McNeil, Lilly, Rorer, Wyeth, Warner, Burroughs and Wellcome) of six of the top pharmaceutical companies in the world got their education—Philadelphia College of Pharmacy—the first college of pharmacy in North America.
