What is the average GPA for UoT? I’ll finish High school with a 3.4 gpa.
Anyone?
Where are you from? If you are from the US, what are your SAT scores? Why U of Toronto?
If you have managed a 3.4 GPA in high school, Toronto is going to be VERY difficult.
You mean the average for accepted students? That may be on their website. A 3.4 would be low for most programs and would likely result in a denial to business, engineering and computer science.
Also a 3.4 high school GPA would likely result in a sub 3.0 GPA at Toronto.
I’m from Brazil, no SAT scores here. I’m planning on studying history. Do they take extra-curriculars in consideration?
They do not take extracurriculars into consideration. Which program are you interested in? The GPA requirements vary depending on program. A 3.4 might get you into an easier program.
Most of the universities in Canada do not consider ECs for admission. I am pretty sure that when my daughters were applying to universities in Canada (but not Toronto) none of the schools that my daughters applied to even asked about ECs. For Toronto a 3.4 is probably pretty close to the cutoff for a history major, and might (or might not) get you accepted. I don’t know how this GPA compares to other students in your part of the world.
However, I am inclined to again ask: Why Toronto? The University of Toronto is probably a reach with a 3.4, is one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) university in Canada for international students, and is academically very challenging. If you are interested in universities in Canada, there are a lot of very good universities in Canada. Most of them are going to be easier to get into with a 3.4, less expensive, and challenging but not quite as challenging as Toronto. There are multiple folks on CC who would be able to suggest a list of universities in Canada (although you might need to check the web sites to check into their history programs).
What about a 3.85 with a 4.20 in 11th grade and decent ECs for Computer engineering?
