University of Toronto (My Chance?)

Does anyone know if I have to wait until May to get my decision since I am an International applicant (US) and I submitted on January 14. I also applied to Trinity and I believe my essays are strong - I believe question #2 has one of my strongest essays yet.

GPA 4.00 Out of 5.00 (Very Low I know) Unweighted: 3.20 Out of 4.00
ACT: 31 Writing: 08
Senior Year Courses:
IB Chemistry HL
IB Biology HL
IB English HL
IB Spanish AB Initio SL
IB Math SL
AP US Gov’t and Politics
EC: Very strong leadership positions, student council and meaningful volunteering. I think My EC essay for Trinity is strong and involved how the EC is vital to my major of my choosing.

Thanks in advance for the answers. U of T and Trinity are my first choice and I have been extremely stressed about my decison.

@bouders Any chance you could weigh in?

@Vikarious Life Science is competitive and Trinity is very competitive. I predict that decisions for Trinity applicants will come out this coming Tuesday around midnight eastern. (I’ve been through this twice before in '14 and '16). The portal will have the answer but I think you get an email a little later. Your decision will have the college you’ve been admitted to.

As far as a prediction for your particular decision and anyone else who applied to Trinity, it will come down to the essays. Trinity gets 10X+ the number of applicants as they have spots.

@bouders thanks so much for the answer. I was more worried about getting into U of T in general as my grades dipped a little bit senior year. I had an A- average junior and B or B- for the first semester as I had some health complications. The final will be higher than the midterm grades but u of t will not see that until after the decision.

Any chance you could give me a prediction for Life Sciences at U of T?

@Vikarious I’m not really up on how U of T treats US GPAs. First semester senior grades are generally the most important though.

@bouders I understand. I did some research and due to taking the IB program but not necessarily having that be my sole diploma allows me to compare my average to roughly 84-86 average in Canada between my senior and junior year grades. Is that considered competitive or is pretty much all that irrelevant and I should just wait until I receive my decision?

Sorry if I have been bothering you, I am extremely stressed for this decision haha

@Vikarious I understand the stress. Generally, a grade of 88%+ would be competitive for a life science admission for an Ontario student. If you do not receive a decision next week, I would go with the assumption that you are not getting in. Rejections may not come out until May or June.

@bouders Thank you for being honest with me. I really hope I hear some good news next week after a terrible start to the year.

Hey guys! Just wanted to quickly ask if you guys knew when the decisions were being released? And my school nominated me for the LB pearson scholar thing and I have no idea when they release their decisions as well. If someone has any info, please let me know

@bouders Last question, when you mean midnight eastern on the coming Tuesday. Does that mean tomorrow after 11:59 PM when it turns Tuesday or on Tuesday at 11:59 PM before it turns to Wednesday?

10 pm Tuesday to early Wednesday am.

Sorry to bother you again @bouders, I really appreciate all the help in all this. Since i didn’t receive my decision yet, is it fair to say that I was rejected to Trinity?

No. I think it’s more likely I’m wrong in my prediction of when decisions are sent out. If you don’t hear anything by the end of next week, then I’d worry.

@daisyduck @bouders I just spoke with artsci admissions on the phone and apparently decisions are expected to come out starting around March 25 to the first week of April.

Though some people on r/UofT admissions megathread are saying as late as mid April. But I’d take that with a grain of salt - though it is something to consider.

Unfortunately I don’t know anything about Lester B Pearson or other scholarship decisions

What are my chances for UTSG Engineering? I have straight A’s except english (82%) SAT score 1490, AP Calculus AB(5), AP Physics 1(4), SAT Math 2 (800), and SAT Physics (740)
